Sadly looks like Ben might be out for a while.
Don't see any reason why he shouldn't be back by next summer, but it does bring our poor options at LB into sharper focus. Think these would be the front runners if he's still out for the March friendlies:
Neil Taylor, Morgan Fox. Rhys Norrington-Davies, Ben Williams, Jazz Richards, Declan John, Neco Williams. None of them have a particularly compelling case tbh. Neil Taylor is surely the front-runner but he needs to get more game-time. He's only played 45 minutes since September.
Gunter could come-in but again he's had very little game-time and that doesn't look like changing anytime soon (even despite yesterday's start).

Gutted for him. Just when it looked like he was Jose’s first choice LB. Need him back and playing ASAP.

What a shame, and what a loss he'll be to us if he's not fit for the Euros.

He'd walk into United or City and hold down a position easily. Wasting his time at Spurs. He loves it at Spurs though, but that could change with Poch going. Really? He would be nowhere near United's or city's team. Hes not even the best left back at spurs

Hes not even the best left back at spurs He is, and Mourinho certainly agrees. He played Davies there in his first game despite him playing the two international fixtures, whilst Danny Rose had the break to rest. If Davies is fit, he plays for Spurs. He'd also absolutely get in Man. United's team, he's performed better than Luke Shaw for a number of years now.

This kind of thing will happen a lot before Euros. Not worth worrying until they get on the plane for first Euro game.

If its rehab that's required he'll do well to be back before the end of February, if he needs surgery as well that could easily stretch to April.
Unless he's spectacularly unlucky, he should be fully recovered by late May though. Fitness will be his only concern then, could he get up to speed in time?

Not great but will be fresh going into the Euros.
Will also mean Giggs can try out Fox at left back. Hope he doesnt revert to Taylor.

Looks like Danny Rose is off to Newcastle until the end of the season. Hopefully some more game time for our Ben when he's back from injury

Mourinho obviously considered Davies to be first choice with Vertonghen as back up

Highly unlikely. I would be certain sessignon is going to be first choice

My mate who's a Spurs fan told me that Mourinho said in an interview that they want to try a new system at Spurs and that Ben Davies is vital for that system to work. He's a big fan of our Ben, which is fantastic news!

He's a big fan of our Ben, which is fantastic news! Yep, I saw that quote. It was something along the lines of Mourinho saying he only had one established left back who fits his system with sessegnon still learning. It's because he knows how much aurier likes to bomb forward on the right and wants to give him the license to do that, but in order to have the right balance he needs the left back to drop deeper and pull inside almost as a back 3. Mourinho doesn't think rose is up to it and doesn't think sessegnon is ready, hence why davies is seen as a key player for his system. andrewj40 just showing his complete ignorance once again, shock!

Yes!
As I mentioned before, Mourinho sees him as a crucial player for his system:

Was partly at fault for their goal, but he's made one superb goaline clearance (not quite as good as Bordeaux, but not far off), and been good in attack and defence on a few other occasions.

Jose looks very unhappy with Ben giving the pen away. I imagine inquiries tomorrow at Villa Park to see if Neil is for sale ;-)
EDIT To be fair to Ben, he did play a few very decent diagonals / through balls and was fairly creative. <!---->

Had a good game but bound to be a bit rusty coming back from his injury. Few more matches and I'm sure he will have regained his sharpness.
