Huge congrats to his old school mate Geraint Thomas. Second stage win in a row in the Tour de France and still wearing the yellow jersey. Really gutsy bloke, making Wales proud.

Huge congrats to his old school mate Geraint Thomas. Second stage win in a row in the Tour de France and still wearing the yellow jersey. Really gutsy bloke, making Wales proud. But unfortunately Sky policy means he won't be allowed to win, that honour will go to the Kenyan Englishman. See also his other old school mate Sam Warburton has been forced to retire at 29.

I have no issue of them continuing to use each other as a double prong to counter Movistar's own triple prong. It's a team sport after all. But if G can follow him up the Pyrenees, he should be allowed to win it, if only for the fact he can probably TT better than the Froomebot 2.0 and therefore, he's probably their best card to stop Dumolin.

Its best for Bale if he can be the main man at Madrid and best for Wales. If he did move on, it is likely to United where the defensive attitude would likely frustrate him. I think this is the best thing all round for him.

Didn't want to start a new thread for a non football story so I thought i'd use this one as Bale's schoolmate Geraint Thomas has just put Wales on the sporting map again with a magnificent Tour de France win.

Nailed on for Welsh spoty I would guess. Also the first British born winner of the tdf. Both Froome and Wiggins born outside of the UK.

Wow. A very ambitious statement. He must have a lot of faith in Bale.. Genuinely hope that this will be his time to take centre stage there at last.

What I find promising about him staying at Madrid is he will be first choice on set pieces, though I'm sure Isco will bully him for the ball. Might see him bag 30 this season if he stays fit.

If he's fit all season he needs to be scoring 40/50 like Ronaldo did every year at Madrid. I guess there's no excuses now.

Bale has just played the most wonderful assist (50-60 yard pass from out wide) for Asensio, just a minute gone. Madrid 1-0 up.

Anyone else got the feeling that Bale is going to get some revenge on Ireland?
He is looking like he's right in form, and we all know how disappointed he must've been to miss the qualifier in Cardiff. I honestly think we will beat them home and away this time round.
