I was at the FIFA Club World Cup Final - just a quick snapshot of his performance (I'll post some pics when I have some time). He can only play against what's in front of him and although the quality of the opposition, AI AIn, may not have been at the same standard as a Barca or a Liverpool, he certainly looked well up for it.
He looked strong, fit and injury worry free, with many 100% sprints and a willingness (most times) to endeavor to win the ball back. His crosses on the run, at pace were very good quality (apart from one?) and he should really have got on the score-sheet but wasted a few golden opportunities and had a header tipped over. He nearly scored a carbon copy of that goal in the Champions League - how he gets that high off the ground I'll never know.
Bale and Benzema seemed to have pre-planned, tactical switches in the 30th and 60th minutes with Bale playing a central role for 5-10 mins but without much impact. Overall, both in the semi-final and final he looked back to full fitness, free flowing movement with good integration within the team structure. He complimented the team and vice versa and he looked dangerous for long periods of both games.
Long may it continue.

I think when he picks up an injury it does take him a few games to fully get back into the swing of things. Madrid fans are so impatient that they always seem to write him off so quickly, but then given time he always finds his form again. Hope he can stay injury free for most of the season.

He doesn't seem to have been too bad in that respect this season. Yes, he's already taken a few knocks, but Lopetegui and Solari in particular, seem to have been very cautious - substituting him early as soon as anything's suspected then resting him for the next game to ensure a recovery before returning. It's not ideal but it's an improvement on previous seasons.

Has only been back in training for a few days, but already on the bench. Hopefully, they wont need to use him today v Espanyol (already 1-0 up after 4')

Bale scores his 100th goal for Real joining an elite band of footballers to have reached the achievement.
Llongyfarchiadau Gareth!

Saw a pic recently of all madrids players out celebrating. Everyone apart from Bale and Benzema. Tbh, his body language at madrid's been poor for a few years now, not sure why he feels the need to plod along there

Well done Gareth
100 goals at Madrid not many can say that, only 13 others.
His goals per game is around the top 6 out of these players.
Then add in the trophies and he has a record to be very proud of.

None of the others would have been expected to let Ronaldo have first refusal on every opportunity.

Another article predicting Bale's demise www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47186392As much as I don't like hyping players I can't understand why Bale's contribution is constantly called into question. It feels like that overhead kick is already a distant memory and he has had to earn the world's respect all over again. It's like there is the actual Gareth Bale, who has scored in two champions league finals, won 4 CL medals in total and has a goal ratio of just over a goal a game and then there is the Gareth Bale everyone wants to see which is the one that is injured all the time and doesn't know how to speak Spanish. I imagine when he leaves Real Madrid he will rushed out via the fire exit of the Bernabeu with a blanket over his head like he is on his way to court and no-one will miss him despite the fact that they hadn't won their much coveted 10th CL until he showed up. I can kind of understand about him not learning the language, very lazy and lacklustre but then I saw Sergio Aguero give an interview yesterday in Spanish/Argentinian/whatever- how long as he been playing in England and no-one gives a shit that he hasn't learnt English! I suspect the Spanish aspect is just another stick to beat him with, if he had scored another 300 goals by now his choice of language would not be an issue.

Watched the Ajax versus Real game last night. Our Gareth certainly nowhere near his best and was substituted. Don't think they're utilising him correctly at the moment, he looked lost a lot of the time.

Taken off straight after first goal. His run made the space for Benzema.
Poor game otherwise but Madrid were shocking first half.
Think he will leave in the summer, maybe a swap for Ronaldo

Don't think they're utilising him correctly at the moment, he looked lost a lot of the time. Albeit not his best game, he still had three shots on target in the first half. The Dutch commentator was joking that this helps his stats and adds another few million on his price tag. That was until the Ajax goal was VARed. And then the only thing he spoke of all night was the shocking injustice ;-)
