I thought he was neat and tidy and that he used the ball well. Unfortunately the system wasn't working and he made way for a tactical change.
He seems like a tidy guy.

He's still the only welsh player to ever reply to me on Twitter, so a top man in my opinion.
I'd start him over Taylor at LWB now btw.

I'd start Richards over Gunter, and bring Taylor back in. Heresy I know - but I want us to play football. I'm fed up with this long ball shite. Only partly for aesthetic reasons - mainly because we don't do it very well. If we're going to go down that route we should get Pulis it to offer a masterclass.

Gunter is going nowhere, i dont think Taylor deserves a place at the moment, Richards is at a better moment.

Basically Jazz had no idea where to play on Saturday, he had nobody to mark and looked totally lost at times
Would prefer him to Taylor though, although this would be a close call.
Think we could well go with 4 at the back and think this could be our best team
Hennessey Gunter Davies A Williams Chester
Allen Ledley (once fit)
Ramsey
Lawrence / HRK / Woodburn
Vokes
Bale
Bale and Lawrence wide and Ramsey behind the front 2, Edwards for Ledley at the moment

Yep Jazz over Taylor all day but hopefully we stick with 4 at the back going forward.

If we go with a back four Davies plays left back and Richards at right back. The case is now compelling. Richards has played well or very well pretty much every time for Wales. Gunter is solid and dependable, always a 6 or 7 out of 10. But he has technical deficiencies that shouldn't be ignored. Richards is simply the better player, on paper, and in practice. The only reason for selecting Gunter ahead of Richards is sentiment.

"Basically Jazz had no idea where to play on Saturday, he had nobody to mark and looked totally lost at times". If you can produce any evidence to back up this assertion I'd love to see it.
Richards didn't get that much work to do - because Austria targetted Gunter's side - probably mainly because of that being Arnautovic's side. But just about everything Richards did was spot on. If you can't see that then I really despair.

Jazz out of the match day squad. Apparently he's injured but not seen this confirmed.
Edit: Just seen the other post. Let's hope it's not serious!
Question is, who replaces him in the squad next week? With Matthews now a regular starter for Sunderland, could he make a surprise return?

Jazz Richards ankle injury blow for Wales and Cardiff City www.bbc.com/sport/football/41408903Wales and Cardiff City defender Jazz Richards faces up to three months out with an ankle injury that needs surgery. Richards, 26, sustained the injury during Cardiff's 2-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday. He will miss Wales' two final World Cup qualifiers, in Georgia on 6 October and at home against the Republic of Ireland three days later. "It doesn't look good for Jazz," said Cardiff manager Neil Warnock. "His ankle, very much like Kadeem [Harris, Cardiff winger], similar type of injury. He's seen the surgeon and he's going to have to have an op. Three months (out) probably." Richards missed Cardiff's 3-1 win over Leeds on Tuesday which took them back to the top of the Championship table. His absence will be a blow for club and country, having started in Wales' 1-0 victory against Austria in September. Cardiff were also without midfielders Joe Ralls and Aron Gunnarsson against Leeds because of injury, though neither are thought to be facing long spells out. "Gunnarsson, we don't know about him and Rallsy," added Warnock. "They want to play on Saturday [against Derby], but we'll have to see what they're like."

this is a big blow! even if he doesn't start it reduces the options. it means Taylor will come in and Davies will stay at LCB - unless we go with a flat back 4 of course.

Sad to see him out. Thought he was superb, especially against Serbia in Belgrade

Jazz back in the Cardiff squad for the first time since September. Once match fit I expect him to start ahead of the inept Peltier.

Anyone else impressed with his performance in midfield during the Cardiff City rout against Sunderland then? Surely one to keep an eye on for our next prospective Manager..

I thought he was okay, given he hasn't played there for a long time. May get a lot more opportunities there too given how thin our midfield is at the moment.

I thought Richards was very good, did what he needed to do well and showed some of the quality we've been missing since he's been out of the side and Peltier *shudders* has been playing No idea what position he was playing though

A very good footballer and very underated, I thought he was very impressive on loan at palace a few years back and always puts in good displays for Wales.

Both Jazz and Connor Roberts at Swansea did good.

Proved his versatility against Sunderland playing a number of roles in one game. Jazz will be a valuable squad member for years to come.

Apparently Jazz played as one of the two deep lying midfielders in Cardiff's very easy preseason games. It remains to be seen if he is deployed there in games that matter. But it could be useful for club and country if he finds his feet as a CM again. It makes him very selectable if he is able to offer the national side three different positions. Think he's more of a technically tidy footballer when he's up and running than he's given credit for.

Jazz will be on the bench at best, anyone thinking otherwise is deluded.

Pre-season surmised review on Cardiff's from Domonic Booth, a pretty decent new journo on WOL...
"The Welshman is back to his fittest and sharpest and is a strong contender to nail down the right-back berth as his own. Has occasionally stepped into central midfield and looked comfortable."
Peltier has taken what sounds like a harsh knock to the head, so it looks at present as if Jazz might be a starter for Cardiff for their opening games in the PL. Think he has the potential to be the best right back they have anyway if he can stay fit.

Never really seen him in a Cardiff shirt, but whenever I saw him for Wales, he has always delivered ;-)

Talk about "all that Jazz" With Cardiff now back in the Premier League, he has a great opportunity to develop further.
