Danny Ward fluffed his lines I reckon. Two clean sheets but schoolboy error footwork

Danny Ward fluffed his lines I reckon. Two clean sheets but schoolboy error footwork Needs to play, you can't just sit on your arse for 10 years and then jump into international football expecting to be good enough. He's also a bit overweight imo.

That looks grim for Schmeichel, but a run of 5+ first team games for Ward is a turn up for the books!

Ward has always been excellent for us, slovakia in the euros with a last minute injury for hennessey
was great with huddersfield helping them gain promotion just a pity he wasn't allowed to go back with them in the premiership.
The wrong move going to Leicester but pretty sure he's been highly rated wherever he's been and has never let us down.
Also how good was it to see Hennessey watching in the stands!!

I think he has got stronger over the two games so far which does tend to suggest that if he had regular appearances he could be a real asset for someone & us in the long term.

yeh such a waste as looks like he's only ever played 2 seasons in his career, Aberdeen & Huddersfield where he's excelled.
13 clean sheets for Aberdeen and Playing 46 games with Huddersfield to get promotion, saving 3 penalties in the play-offs

I thought Ward did ok except for his distribution of the ball.

You’re a very good keeper. Hand your transfer request in and get your move. Rangers or Celtic maybe? Lovely floated pass for Wilson.

Fairly pleased with his performances. I do think he could have done better with the goal though. He seemed to get his positioning wrong (far too close to the near post)

Crazy career move to the Foxes Was it not under the assumption that Kaspar was off to Italy or something and then the deal fell through? Obviously still a risk to move like but always thought he was unfortunate the way things panned out.

I thought he did okay tbh. I don't think there was much he could have done about Pukki's goal. I think the defending became a bit sloppy at that point but given the final outcome, I'm not complaining.

again brilliant we have an experienced keeper to come in like this - hennessey isn't getting much game time the passed few seasons.
Also great to see Hennessey in the stadium again tonight - he must have come down with the squad and stayed there. shows big commitment from him.

Despite the loss, seems to have had a good game, off the bbc website:
Zorya worked their opponents far harder with keeper Danny Ward, making only his second appearance of the season, pulling off two superb saves to deny Vladislav Kochergin and Andrejs Ciganiks, while Vladlen Yurchenko's header came off the bar.

Good opportunity for him to get 90 minutes under his belt yesterday but Rodgers still picked Kasper Schmeichel Noticed that. Such a shame A couple of years ago I thought Schmeichel would be signed by a top club. Now he's 34 and I can't see it personally. I think it will take a drop off in form for Leicester to want to get rid, but Schmeichel could have another 3 or 4 years left in him at the top level. It's a tricky situation Danny is in

Let's hope he plays in the next round, so I hope they get Bournemouth or Sheff Utd at home, cause it's a few days before Belgium away.

Danny ward can't actually like football can he? seems he is just happy to pick up his probably nice wage and provide for his family while not actually doing much of what he is paid to do,fair play though i wouldn't say no to it either ,just seems a strange way to play out a career but then he isn't the first footballer to do it is he,no doubt tons of keepers went through their careers hardly playing.

It’s not as simple as him deciding to stay or leave, he has a contract. What we don’t know is how many clubs have made enquiries about his availability and balked at Leicester’s demands to recoup the bulk of the £12million pounds they paid for him.

What we don’t know is how many clubs have made enquiries about his availability and balked at Leicester’s demands to recoup the bulk of the £12million pounds they paid for him. If he has any sense he will try and get out this summer. He could nail down the Wales GK position. He can't have long left on his contract. According to transfermarkt his contract expires in 2022, so I expect Leicester will want to cash in on him this summer when they have the chance. Then again, I wouldn't put it past him signing an extension to remain as understudy seeing as he seems perfectly happy doing that now. But I agree, he should force his way out this summer. He's still relatively young for a keeper, and despite not playing for a few seasons I imagine his reputation is still big enough to walk into a starting job in the Championship at least. The perfect scenario would be Schmeichel missing a month or two through injury giving Ward a chance to do what Martinez did for Arsenal last year, and earn a move to be a starter at a mid table Premier League club next year. Unfortunately Schmeichel seems indestructible so I can't see that happening.
