Also from Lille there are plenty of TER trains which are 7 pound one way
Also if you thinking about waiting for other trains to come on sale from paris
There are only two other trains going up that could be come available
A 07:43 ARR 09: 03
And another with change in arras
10:46 arr 12:16
coming back there will be an extra two trains to come on sale again with change in arras so if you want to go direct the three trains above are the ticket

Have tried to find Fan Zone info for lens but it doesn't exist Uefa document states every host city must set one up but as others said if you are ticketless the fan zones in paris or Lille maybe more friendly place to be

Thanks for that sleepy
The fan zone looks like it is east of station again within walking distance
Also road closures to make it easier to get there and stadium from train station

Lille is a 50 minute train ride and 30km by road. Lille also has a 30k fan zone next to the Euro Star. Finally, Lille youth hostel still has 3-bed rooms available for €75 (or €25 each if you are prepared to share) EDIT: There is only 1 bed available now on 15 June. Plenty for 16 June though! Book here - www.hihostels.com/hostels/lille-euralille/prices#hostel-tabs

I've already bought mine through the SNCF UK Voyages website. Was £13 return. I'd do that as you're guaranteed to be able to get a train that day. Be nothing worse than showing up at Lille station and not being able to get to Lens!

As far as I am aware, it's not like a TGV where you reserve a seat on train. So, if the train or station is full, even if you have a ticket, you might not get on.

yeah think I will buy in advance on SNCF website, do you know if you have to stick to those exact times when booking? I'd like to stay in Lens for a few hours after the game, however if it turns nasty i'd get on the first train out!

We're in the same boat as you, would like to stay in Lens for a bit but escape if it kicks off. I'm not sure what to do for the best right now. When I get a chance I'll spend some time looking at the T&Cs on the SNCF site.

I think our cousins from across the Severn were not all that popular with the Marseilles authorities either. I need to memorise the phrase: "Nous ne sommes pas anglais. Nous sommes du pays de Galles"

Lens is a very small town and if you have not got a ticket the advice would be to watch the game somewhere else. Security will be tight and selling and buying of tickets, even at face value, in public is prohibited and both parties would be arrested if caught. Also drinking alcohol on the streets is against the law and an arrest able offence and with there being few places like pubs and bars to drink this could cause problems. Drinking is allowed in the fan zone but it only holds 10,000 fans....the ground holds 34,000 and its expected that 50000 fans may turn up on match day which again could be problematic. below we can see virtually the whole town centre area and the road that leads to the stadium in the distance.

When I get a chance I'll spend some time looking at the T&Cs on the SNCF site. Yeah I will do some digging to and report back! In the end, I emailed some random taxis in Lille and we've booked an 8 seater return (from centre of Lille to stadium) for 250 Euros return. Pay on the day. Hope they turn up. Other prices I was quoted: 8 seater (but with 30% deposit paid by cheque required now) - 210 Euros return 4 seater - 80 Euros each way, pay on the day 6 seater - 90 Euros each way, pay on the day. If interested, I can pass on email addresses to you.
