Avalon House Hostel €45 for 2 nights on Booking.com - its a 4-bed dorm. Central with average reviews. Incl simple breakfast. If you have never used Booking.com before - this link will give you £10 OFF - refer.booking.com/s/dfhg2 The IBIS in Dublin is about 5 miles north of town, but with a decent bus connection. 2 nights there for the match is about €150 If you dont mind the location (about 2 miles North of the centre) the official youth Hostel has double rooms for €52 (three left!) or beds in a 4-bed dorm for €18. There is an extra 10% discount if you are a member! www.hihostels.com/hostels/dublin-international-yha#price Alpharooms and Travel Republic have a little more variety than Booking.com / Expedia / TripAdvisor etc.

One option is to get yourself a copy of the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet travel books for Ireland - they will give you a few options on hotels, hostels and B and B's that aren't listed on the main websites.
Other options include air bnb which rents out rooms in people's houses and Home away where people rent out apartments and houses on line. Have used the latter but not the former.

Aviva (Landsdowne rd) is on DART (Rapid transit) so can easily stay well out of Dublin and come in and out. Howth ............... fishing port and spruced up but decent place. Malahide................... if you think Dublin is expensive !!!! Bray................ seaside town Dun Laoghaire (Dun Leery).................old Ferryport bit snobby Any golfers out there who want to play around (golf that is) then somewhere like Donabate is a good place as has 5 links courses very close together. Staying with my mum so easy for me

Yep. Me too. Was toying with the idea of doing the Premier Inn up North (Phoenix Park) or Ibis - but really not worth the extra money (and extra travel) for a short two days stay...

I think I'm just going to fly out on the Friday morning and not bother with accommodation, stay out all night and get a 6am flight back Saturday morning. I could have a week away all inclusive for the price of a flight and hotel for 1 night in Dublin at the prices I've been seeing!

From past experience, have a look at Ryan Air or Wizz Air with a silly stop-over in Sweden, France or Poland etc! Move the question to the away thread and let me know where you are starting from and if you can dept on Thursday / back Sunday etc.

ok thanks for that i normally catch a taxi abroad but i will catch the bus as it stops outside the hostel The word "abroad" doesn't really describe Dublin - more like Swansea in the 90s in my opinion... Its bus 16 Towards Ballinteer (Kingston) - Travel time about 45 minutes. Bus Stop No. 4456 Aungier Street, Church, Stop 4456 Most people will get off at O'Connell St, you then the bus crosses the bridge and Aungier Street is the THIRD stop after the bridge.

Being in Birmingham I think just a day trip/1 nighter will do for me. Can get to Dublin about just as quick as getting to Cardiff.
