It does appear that the gap was bigger than they thought. I had my doubts given we released Ben Tozer about 5 years ago due to him turning slower than the Titanic. They overpaid massively to get out of the NL but that's probably money well spent to be fair. It took Stockport a while to get going last season so I wouldn't write off their chances of back-to-back promotions yet, but my gut feeling is that the squad they have isn't quite so "superior" at this level, and that some cracks may appear before the inevitable eventually happens. Mullin is a huge miss. I'm not a fan but have taken a very strong interest in them since the takeover. So I ended up watching several of their games last year, and have watched a couple this season too. Trust me when I say they look a completely different side with Mullin in the team. I'm convinced he's a Championship level striker simply by how different they look without him Obviously he's not going to be back until like November, but I imagine they'll start kicking on soon after his return - which will probably be enough for a playoff push, which I think is what people thought they'd be capable of anyway

Last I heard was that he was ‘weeks rather than months’ away from a return.

Last I heard was that he was ‘weeks rather than months’ away from a return. It was the fact he needed a few weeks to recover from the injury, then a few weeks of non-contact training to make sure a re-occurence didn't happen, then re-introduction into training, and probably a couple of weeks to get up to speed. I should clarify I meant November until he will be starting games, not when he will be "available"

Surely Chris Maxwell is the perfect replacement for Foster? Seems a win win for club and player and he could be number 1 for the next 3 seasons. Signed for Huddersfield this summer. Don't know if he'll move again so soon Good point. I forgot he just moved

5-0 at Stockport is a bit of a thumping, I musy say. What went wrong - overconfident / too cocky / or just a 'one of those games' blip?
And how is Paul Mullin shaping up after his comeback? Will RP select him for the home international friendly at Wrexham (only a fortnight or so to go)? I see that he was replaced by Ollie Palmer on the hour yesterday.

I said last year and the year before their defence can be awful but many came back arguing it was excellent
Isn't that three times they have conceded 5 goals in a game?
That proves the point does it not. They need to sort it out as there must be one or two weak links in that defence

Welcome To Wrexham... I bet most American viewers are thinking that half the scripts are made up. They are not! Losing 0-2 to Salford at half time and winning it 3-2 in injury time. Jordan Davies, take a bow.
Fifth in the league. One point away from second place ;-)

Judging by the amount of chances we created, it could have ended 7-2 ...
I se that Declan John now plays for Saldord. Only 28 and a LWB ...

Saw some highlights, great comeback, Wrexham can look so good going forward but the defence are poor, they're sloppy as hell and slow to react to things, it's going to need serious improvement.

We've just come off the back of 2 clean sheets on the road so we know we can defend well. Unfortunately we were forced to field a youth player who was out of his depth and out of position at RWB and Aaron Hayden, who is meant to be supporting him, had a rare off day. I do think the 3 we fielded yesterday is our best back 3, and we'll start conceding less. Also helps that we have a proper goalkeeper now too, Howard isn't good enough and Foster was past it.

Wrexham are now the most famous Welsh side. I think they have even more fame than Newport County, Swansea City, and Cardiff City.

Looks like the early season leakiness is a thing of the past and now looking like Wrexham can really challenge for those automatic spots. All the momentum that's with the club at the moment is great to see. Hopefully this new temporary Cop Stand can add to the momentum too. Would not be surprised to see them in League One next season

Nice to get one over the team that voted against our existence earlier. It was probably more to do with voting against a team who were spending money they didn't have on wages, whilst everyone else tries to compete. And I guess you were due a win against us.
