Anyone know how he's got on? Says he was subbed off at 45 but I assume that's fitness reasons.

Hope hes ok. They made 2 subs at half time.
If he plays 10 - 15 games he goes to Baku.

Read on Twitter that he was absolutely awful... To be expected I guess after a year with no matches!

Very strange decision by Charlton manager to put him in the team straigh away after such a lengthy lay-off.

Well it was less than a day after he signed, and yeah by the sounds of it he was nowhere near up to match speed. The full responsibility for that has to go to Lee Bowyer, hopefully he's given a bit of time to get up to some level of match fitness before he's thrown in at Championship level again.

Not sure why he wasn’t given 10-15 minutes here and there to build up his fitness before starting him? Strange

I've read a few comments on here about Joe as a surprise pick for the Euros. He's been a great servant, but unless he gets some games somewhere very soon it's got to be a non-starter. Have my doubts whether he'll play for Wales again.

It’s just that we have a dearth of talent in his position so many have commented that if he has three or four good months at a decent level them he may gatecrash the squad. Most agree that this is unlikely though.

All the newcomers to the squad in his position have barely played a minute of senior football, either watching it from the bench or playing in the kids leagues, so I have my worries about Ampadu/Smith/Morrell/Levitt getting bullied by someone like Jorginho or Xhaka. Because of that, I'd probably take Vaulks and/or Lee Evans, midfielders who are experienced with the rough and tumble despite any technical limitations they may have.

Seriously? I think Vaulks (or indeed Huws) would have him so deep in their pocket that his face will turn redder than his Swiss cross.
Jorginho? Never heard of him ...

Brilliant. A gorgeous city in its own right and only a 2 hour drive from Sydney.
Enjoy!

Will he ever play for Wales again?
I say not.
Probably an unsung hero. Shame we never got to say goodbye if it is the case he never gets the call again.

Carl has a very small budget, so he hasn't gone for the money.

He spent too long away from the game for me. Considering he is now 33, I think it would take him a couple of years to work back to his best, by which time he would be naturally declining anyway. Especially considering we now have the following coming through in his position; Ampadu, Smith, Morrell, Levitt, as well as Huws/Vaulks who are also currently in contention. Agree, it's a shame as he is a legend in my eyes.

Its make you feel old though the way these careers fly past at the blink of an eyelid. I remember a story doing the rounds just after his Cardiff debut. He scored against West Ham in a cup game and the following night he was out with mates riding around Cardiff on his bike. Felt old even then.

Joe Ledley signs short term deal with Bristol Rovers. Not a big fan of this considering Charlton hooked him off sharpish and he never played for them again. We’re desperate though and he’ll probably get a chance to play quite a bit if his legs are still up to it.

It's more than likely a choice between a short-term deal at Bristol Rovers, and retirement.

In case it wasn’t clear I’m talking from a Bristol Rovers perspective- I’m sure he would have bitten our hand off for a contact and I think we’ve been slightly mad to offer him one considering he didn’t make much of an impression at Charlton. We have some under-whelming defensive midfielders who lack quality and experience so he will probably play if his legs can still carry him. We were supposed to be in for Josh Sheehan last August and I think we missed a trick there.

He's not going to be any fitter than he was when he played for Charlton, and isn't the sort of player you want to bring in at this stage if you want to get somewhere. Sheehan would be a good signing for most league one clubs.

Well we’re just above the relegation zone so we aren’t looking to go anywhere at the moment 😂 maybe he will surprise me but I rather think he is trying to prolong the inevitable and that enforced retirement is just around the corner. Hopefully we are back in for Sheehan this summer unless Newport go up
