Ok- no Bale, Ledley or Ricketts and up to 10 players from the championship playoffs- we're going to need some replacements!
James Wilson? (Bristol City) started the last few games, seems to have done well.
David Stephens? (played a few SPL games for Hibs lately)
Recalls for Craig Davies (25 goals for Chesterfield) and Shaun Macdonlad (excellent end of season form for Yeovil)??
....I think putting this squad together could be a bit of a struggle for Speed.

Good shouts -but also highlights how pointless these games are. Chance for some game time to players on the edge of the team maybe, but do we need many new faces?

Excluding injured players and those involved in play offs, here's my attempt to put a squad together:
GK: Hennessey Myhill Brown (or maybe someone who's actually played this season! Rhys Taylor perhaps? Chris Maxwell? )
D: J Collins D Collins Gabbidon Nyatanga Wilson (surely more deserving of a call up than Morgan) Eardley (will probably play because Gunter and Taylor are in the play offs and Ricketts and Bale are injured. God help us.) M: Ramsey Collison (at least if those 2 play together again at long last it'll be worthwhile) Crofts Vaughan King Coterill? Macdonald? Dorman? Is Dave Edwards still injured? (struggling a bit here.....)
F: Vokes Morison er....Eastwood? Craig Davies?
Jesus Christ- I'm glad I'm not going!

Have to give Craig Davies a go, although I dont expect he will be any better than Morison considering where they both ply their trade.
Other than that there really isnt much to look forward to out of these fixtures. Its a daft time to be playing friendlies as it is. The whole "home nations" angle hasnt exactly set pulses racing amongst the players so its just a case of trying to scrape through 180 minutes with some confidence left intact at the end of it.
Although, wouldnt it be fucking brilliant if one of those half-assed squads clicked and produced a decent performance, or even got a result and gave us a new first XI made up of former fringe players who are all on the same wavelength.

I suppose if James Wilson is given a go and looks an international player, and Rambo and Collison get some more game time together it'll be worth it?

Personally I dont care who plays so long as the players that do are up for it and we have some real positives to come out of it. And by positives I mean getting a result, not a 3-0 tonking that is turned into a positive because we stuck to our guns and played passing football for the full 90 minutes.

Darn straight, these games may be friendlies withan under-strength squad but they are hugely important games for Speed. He has to show he can put a side together from a group of decent individuals and make them competitive. The side will contain players from the lower leagues, but that's no different to what Northern Ireland have to do every time. Need a performance and ideally a result too.

Not all the play-off players are out of the squad. We'll know who's available in about 8 days time.
Also, Bale is out of the Premiership but hasn't been ruled out of the internationals. Ledley is hoping to be back. And I'm not sure if Ched Evans is definately out yet.
Looking forward to a nice few days in Dublin and the surrounding area.

Spurs say Bale is out until July, I don't think he's going to be playing in Dublin in two weeks' time. Ledley is hoping to be fit, but will Celtic allow him to? Also is Speed going to name any of the play-off players in the squad? Previous experience has shown the Championship play-offs to be emotionally and physically draining. Maybe Speed will put them all on a standby list and call up those who are still standing after the semis. I'd rather that than players from Swansea, Forest, Cardiff and Reading withdrawing with unavailabity or injury.

What about: Ribieiro Stock Dorman Matthews Nathan Craig Craig Davies Macdonald Wilson
not to mention a few more below but may be too soon and probably better for them to help the u21 as starters rather than sit on the bench for a senior international Troy Brown Bodin Chamberlain

Maybe Rob Edwards and Gareth Roberts will get a call up

Has Rob Edwards been capped in a competitive game? If so surely he deserves to be in the next squad and may offer us something different at the back.

If memory serves he played against Slovakia in the 5-1 defeat and got the majority of the blame along with Richard Duffy(?). Neither of them have featured since I dont think. I stand to be corrected on that though. The old grey matter aint what it was!

Yeah Rob Edwards come on as a sub in the 3-1 over Cyprus after the Slovakia game and was never seen again. Seems strange cos he's a decent enough option for a squad member and was in games when Speed was still playing for Wales!
