The Slovakians took 6000 fans over to Wembley last year, but I imagine at least half of them live in London. Anyone know how many they took to Edinburgh?
I felt that they only had around about 6000 in Bordeaux ... And I also saw their match v Russia under the roof in Lille, with not many more.
Can't imagine them bringing more than 1500 over, but I might be wrong, and a weekend down St Mary's Street might capture their imagination ;-)

There’s quite a few Slovakians living in Wales, it is estimated that there are about 90,000 living in the UK so I reckon they could easily sell out an allocation of around 2,000 maybe a bit more.

I'm not sure if there 90k living in the UK but we offer them 3k in return for 3k it sounds pretty good to me.

You must rate the negotiation skills of the FAW quite highly ;-) On the bright side, their brand new 22,500 seater stadium in Bratislava is up and running. Its only 2 miles walk from the old town and it had its first match there on Wednesday ;-)

In a perfect world, if the FAW could broker that deal fir each game then I think most of our fans would be satisfied. Not expecting it though.

I'm told that many of those Slovakian nationals are actually Ethnic Hungarians, so some of those wouldn't have no interest at all in supporting Slovakia. (PS: Try explaining to an English person that some people don't consider themselves to be the nationality that is on their passport, they REALLY don't get it) There were at least 1500+ Bosnian fans when we played them in 2014 and I wouldn't have thought that there are that many living in the UK. So who knows.

My Slovakian mate Fil, has just this week gone back to Slovakia with his wife, two children, born here, and family allowance from the UK taxpayer so he won't be at the game.

Wondering if there are any merits in including James Lawrence in the squad for this? He has been injured for six weeks, but was on the bench for Anderlecht yesterday.
Is anyone familiar with the current Slovakian squad? Any players that played at Trencin during Jamie's 4 years there? Others that Jamie might be very familiar with from his time there?
Joe Ledley is on the verge of returning for DCFC and Ampadu is also just about over his injury.
From seeing Matthew Smith 6 or 7 times lately - he is certainly my nailed on starter in the defensive midfield role.

I like what I've seen from Smith, but I haven't watched him play for Twente.

From what I've seen of both, Ampadu looks like he's a far better player and has a far greater ceiling in terms of how good he could become. It also seems to me that he complements Allen better than Smith - Ampadu has greater physicality and more of a presence about him whereas smith seems to be in a very similar mould to allen. The only thing counting against ampadu is that he isn't playing whereas smith is getting senior football week in week out and that is a very important consideration.

Simply feel that Smith is growing in confidence (and physicality) weekly. I invite anyone that has time on Wednesday (ko 5.30pm) to watch him - its a massive game in the 1/4 Final of the Cup v a mid-table 1st Div team.
I also agree that Ampadu - with senior match time - is a wonderful prospect.

I'm looking to buy 5 tickets for this match for me and 4 friends. Unfortunately I'm the only one with a Red Wall membership, would anyone be kind enough to let me assign one of the tickets to their membership number?

I remember when we qualified for Euro 2016, Coleman was always talking about the target of 20 points to qualify. Thinking about this I've crunched some numbers regarding 5 team groups since the turn of the millennium.
Only once has a team gained 16 points and not finished in second place. This suggests that the target should be 16 points for absolute certainty of finishing in the top two. 15 points would also more than likely do it.
With 16 being the target, I'd say the 12 points available from Hungary and Azerbaijan are essential. If we get 12 from 12 in these games, this means we just need a further 4 points from our 4 games against Slovakia and Croatia.
A win at home against Slovakia in the first game would be huge for us in this regard.

A lot of pressure on the Slovakia game, fail to win and we're on the back foot immediately with two tough away games next
Hopefully Giggs has sorted a tactic out

If we're too open I think Hamsik will hurt us, just like Eriksen did in the Nations League. They have a solid defence as well so I think we will have very tight games against them.

We need some momentum, it'll be interesting to see how Slovakia approach the game, a draw probably suits them a bit better. I agree we need to really step it up defensively, I think bringing King or Ledley in alongside Allen will help. I've been adamant that Ash needs to start, he needs to get back into the Stoke side, or Mepham could take his place. Could a back 3 of Chester Ash Mepham work? Hennessey Chester Ash Mepham Roberts Allen King Davies Ramsey Brooks Bale It's Cookie's formation but with more natural attacking full backs. The front 3 is ridiculous, and there's plenty of protection behind them so they have more freedom to run at Slovakia.

Five weeks and counting. Don't want to put too much of a dampener on it but it looks like Dummett is still out and Neil Taylor, which was getting a decent run of games, appears to have also picked up an injury.
Two outside chances, Declan John and Adam Matthews are also nursing injuries.
Our defence looks a little threadbare ;-(

Looks like Jimmy Lawrence could get the call again. There is a Slovakia connection there as well. So wouldn't be such a big surprise. At least he has got 3x90 minutes under his belt this month ;-)
