Can't find a previous thread for him.
Centre back / left back at Liverpool. Captained Wales' U19 during for their recent matches vs Poland, Russia and Kosovo.
Starts for them tonight in the EFL Cup.

Unfortunately Villa's second will probably go down as an OG from Boyes, nothing he could do about it though, a complete freak deflection on a cross he did well to close down.

BBC reporting that Morgan Boyes having an absolute stinker. I guess but they are playing a strong villa team. Kodjia is destroying the young defence as a whole

BBC reporting that Morgan Boyes having an absolute stinker. Harsh. The own goal not one he could do much about, and a much improved second half. A couple of tidy runs into midfield, took care of the ball well. A cup debuts for young centre halves go it's far from the worst I've seen.

Well there’s this from Alan Hutton at full time ‘The Liverpool players looked down about it at full-time. They obviously came hoping to put in a performance, every one of them did themselves justice. They all produced on the night, they should be happy with how they performed. For the future, for Liverpool, they've got some amazing talent coming through. It was a chance for the fans and the people at home to see that. It was great to see.’

Nice to know the faithful have jinxed him already.
Look forward to seeing him turning out for Oldham or the like in a few years time.

I though the Liverpool kids played well personally including the Welsh contingent.

He's another boy that's developed quite a reputation. Very big future ahead of him I'm sure. I was just looking through some old threads. I'm new to this great site folks so apologies if I repeat what others have said. It seems to me that we have a rare crop of young and talented players developing all at once. Everyone knows about Brooks, Wilson, Ampadu and James of course. It's the lads who are just slightly younger that excite me. Rabbi Matondo of course as well as the likes of Neco Williams and Morgan Boyes and arguably the pick of them in Chem Campbell. I was looking at a thread about the squad for 2016 which was interesting, but what worried me were the goalkeepers. Danny Ward will hopefully be at his peak by then (32) but he needs to establish himself before then. He has the talent but needs the opportunity. Wayne coould still be there, maybe. I've seen quite a bit of the younger goalkeepers in recent years and they're something of a mixed bag. Daniel Confrey who played U16s a few years ago has dropped out of league football and is at Concord Rangers. The other two lads that I've seen were Cian Tyler at Coventry. He's a giant and there's a clip of him here. He's made a couple of good saves here www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAj3AqZgGNYThe other boy, though is David Robson at Hull City. I read somewhere recently that he's being scouted by some of the bigger clubs in Europe. Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke and Valencia were some of the names mentioned. Similar to Chem Campbell IIRC.I can see why looking at this clip. According to Hull's website he's been on several loans gaining experience. This kid has some real talent. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b_3_hCiHnQ&t=18sI wonder what the general view of our younger lads making the move abroad while they are still in their teens?

Morgan recently signed a pro contract so he's obviously highly regarded. Anyone know much of his background, hometown etc?

I wonder what the general view of our younger lads making the move abroad while they are still in their teens? It's gotta depend on the player and the club. Some will flourish. Look at Sancho. Still a teenager and just scored in 6 games in a row and first European top flight player to get into double figures in both goals and assists. But then again you have Ampadu who has clearly been sent to the wrong club.

Yes absolutely. Ademola Lookman may be thinking the same. In and out of the team a lot this season it appears. It's surprised my how many players have headed to the top two divisions in Germany in recent times. On the whole its definitely been positive. I'm interested to see what happens with promising goalkeepers as they seem more willing to play young keepers over there. At least their own anyway.

Joined Fleetwood Town on loan. Nice to see how he develops there, sure they’ll be aiming for promotion to the championship.

Great read. Thanks! Obviously, the game v Villa last December was the highlight of his career.
He got to meet his idol, Neil Taylor!

Signed for Livingston on a permanent deal. Obviously wasn’t in Klopp’s plans either now or in the future.

Lots of Welsh players in the SPL these days.
If he plays regularly and shows some potential he won't be short of suitors as a left-footed centre half and with the pedigree of coming from Liverpool's academy.

Good move, just needs to establish himself in the first team then I think he actually has a chance of pushing for our senior team. James Lawrence isn't really what we need long term at LCB. Plenty of players in the Scottish League playing for international teams
Croatia had that Barisic playing at left back for ages when he was at Rangers. Scotland have a few too, hopefully Boyes does well, excited for him

I’ll make a prediction. Despite the fact it’s “Only” Livingston this time next year Boyes will have a Wales cap

I’ll make a prediction. Despite the fact it’s “Only” Livingston this time next year Boyes will have a Wales cap I doubt it. I've seen him a few times for the u21s and he looks far off the required level. He's very good on the ball, but got caught out and bullied easily in some of those games. He has a lot of development in front of him before getting into the squad.

Regular football at a decent level will help ,it's common on this forum to decry the SPL ,but it's a good league and unlike the lower tiers in England guarantees a few huge crowd games. Also I think I would rather a good skillset with physicality to develop rather than the other way round ( Cabango springs to mind). Remember watching our under 20 team in Toulon in 2017 and centre backs were,Rodon Mepham( both 19) and Cian Harries ( 20) Harries was a first teamer at Coventry and looked far better than the other two,but found a level and didn't progress.
