Well I for one am very grateful to Mr. Moderator and people helping maintain this website Goodness us Welsh love a good quarrel with ourselves! Pessimism is also in our genes (I plead guilty where sport is concerned) but luckily the arrival of Bale suppressed a lot of it for a while

I remember someone telling me once, 'there's none like the Welsh for bitchiness'.

Think everyones jumping the gun with popov, and luke harris, popov could be commited to playing for wales for all we know, i know L Harris is, he just wanted to spend time with is Family and mates in jersey and also go to portugal with Fulam ! and not be a spare part in Quatar,Think its nautral to think the worse of these lads when you dont know the truth Why not publish that then? 'Personal Reasons' just gives the opportunity for people to ruminate and suspect. I suppose he is doing what all pro football players do ! If he says the reason for the pullout peeps will scrutinize why over going to a world cup and having dinner every night with bale and co or spending time with fam and going warm weather training with is club ! So it best they say its for personel reasons or better still a slight back or groin strain, Giggs pulled out of many games with a slight back problems then played a few days later for is club, rather than explain that hes saving himself for is club than playing a meaninless freindly against N Ireland in belfast

There are some cracking over reactions in this thread but we have a winner. You must have a very short memory if you think that I stand by my comments. What I mean is if Bale goes then Ramsey and we lost 4 of our most promising under 21 players three of whom have given an indication they are thinking of other options that truly would be devastating. We would lose our ability to continue to qualify for tournaments after Germany 2024. That’s a big deal. Think 2 steps ahead. Our 4 most promising u21 players are Neco, Brennan, Colwill and L.Harris. 3 of those already committed despite dual nationality and England sniffing around. The response to Luke Harris dropping out is definitely an over-reaction, nothing to suggest he is considering other options. Even players like Jordan James who did consider it ended up coming back, and I think that shows the need not to worry Any player suitable for us will stay with us. Any player who would choose to play for another nation we shouldn't be calling up anyway!

On Luke - its positive that there has been no subsequent news as if he were considering things then it would have reached the press somehow by now.
Hopefully he is good enough to be in our next squad as we need a 'quality' infusion of youth / legs in the midfield and in general - goals!

Reading between the lines with James it seemed more that he saw England as his number 1 choice but they stopped returning his calls.

To be fair if JJ felt strongly about England he’d have stuck around with them, or remained internationally neutral for more than 1 international window.

How about just giving dual qualified young lads the benefit of the doubt until they say otherwise

I’m not sure England’s new system to inform players that they haven’t been selected is to ghost them

You may need to look a little bit more between those lines. I’m not sure England’s new system to inform players that they haven’t been selected is to ghost them I doubt they ring round every eligible player to say “sorry you’re not being picked”. From memory, he was called up for England for a squad (cue the infamous fanfare on social media) then the next window he wasn’t called up (which coincided with him going back to being a reserve at Birmingham as their injury crisis cleared up). Then after that the talk started up that he was coming back to Wales. I could be mis-remembering or alternatively I am right about the chain of events and there is some unfortunate coincidental timing….

It was more the point about them not returning his calls I was talking about haha. As soon as he wasn’t selected in the next I’m sure he didn’t keep ringing them asking if there’s been some mistake.

No, what he did was phone up the FAW instead it seems and tell them he was back.

Good to see him called up.
I don't know about him as an individual to comment about him specifically, but we know FAW encourages players to experience different systems and I hope our fans recognise that nationality is more and more complex and this experience of different systems is ultimately good for us. As long as we're doing what we need to do.

Any idea whereabouts is he career wise now? Still at Leicester I presume, but not with any Wales youth squad recently.
