Luca Hoole has started his second league game in succession for Bristol Rovers and I notice a Rovers fan claiming he will be Rovers next big money sale due to how he has taken to playing for the first team after coming through Rovers academy and looking likely to be a first team regular in his first full season. Sounds like one to watch out for going forward.

Sounds like one to watch out for going forward. Cian Harries starting too I notice. Do they still have Martinez? Harries scores a volley from outside the area last week after being moved to full back but he isn’t liked at all and most would drive him to any club that would have him. The brilliantly Welsh named Pablo Martinez is an odd one. Earned rave reviews when he came in at the end of last season to the point that the club took up an option of an extension to his contract. Given that Hoole has been brought in to be relied on as a first teamer this season it’s odd not to see Martinez involved at all so far this season. But then given Joey fucking Barton is the manager I don’t currently expect anything Bristol Rovers do to make sense

EFL Cup tonight;
Niall Huggins starts for Sunderland
Sorba starts for Huddersfield and gets an assist
Tyler starts for Leeds
Davies, Chester, Fox & Norton start for Stoke
Scott Smith starts for Wigan
Sheehan starts for Bolton
Dan Williams starts and scores for Swansea, B.Cooper comes on at HT
Sam Bowen starts for Cardiff
Brooks plays 65 for Bournemouth and is subbed off for Mepham in a 6-0 loss to Norwich
Fin Stevens is an unused sub for Brentford - a bit disappointing
Chem Campbell is not in Wolves's match day squad which was surprising considering he's been on the bench in the Premier League recently - a loan move incoming?

Saw people on twitter still shouting "No Vaulks?!?!" at the squad announcement. Mostly Cardiff City "fans" with players as their display pics. I find it weird that these types still push that - he hasn't been included for a very long time now, and doesn't even play for Cardiff. It's clear all these people just have odd biases

I've wanted Vaulks included in the past purely to have a different option on the bench, particularly as he performed well last season, but last night he was shown up by Sam Bowen who was declared the "star man" by Wales Online. Vaulks is an odd player, techmically he's decent but he just lacks the speed of thought and composure to make the most of it

Love the man, he's really lovely, and happy for him that he had a chance to play international football. But yes, I think it's obvious the future of Welsh football is going in a different direction to him - we have a lot of talent coming through

Goals for Ched Evans, Sam Vokes and apparently a bullet header from Jonny Williams tonight.
Would be Welshman Paul Mullin also on the score sheet.

Always wanted to post about it to but when I was Wales gaffer on FM 23, Harry Clifton was absolutely shit hot for two seasons scored 20+ goals a season from central midfield for Grimsby who literally just finished mid table in league two.
Called him up as we ended up in the same situation we're in now but worse as Ramsey retired in 2024.
Gave him debut, we got tonked and then got sacked.

Currently doing a FIFA career mode as Man United manager, but just so that I can do an international management role with Cymru - although took me about 3 seasons to actually get offered the Cymru role I planned ahead and bought Brennan Johnson early, using him as a rotation player at first, but he quickly got good enough to start. He was 90 overall by the time I took the national job Bought Ampadu but had to send him out on loan, and only been able to get him up to 79 overall - still one of the best players in our squad though after the 2016 lot phase out Ben Davies sticks around for a while, although he retired in the middle of a tournament for me which was annoying! Matondo surprisingly goes up to around 77, so an attack with him, Brennan & DJ is very easy to play on the counter with. I'm finally starting to get some decent regens (2027-28) now that I've turned the United youth academy into a Cymru regen factory. They should actually improve the lineup beyond the 75-78 overalls I've been stuck with, so now I can actually try to reach some knockout games of tournaments I think I started the 2026 WC with a lineup like; Ward (75) Connor (75) Cabango (77) Davies (79) Neco (76) Ampadu (78) Levitt (77) DJ (78) Wilson (79) Matondo (77) Brennan (90)

allezlesrougesAlways felt FIFA is too linear. Overtime your players will always get better but none would come out of nowhere unless there was a regen for instance don't know if they changed that or not? But with FM - form, injuries, match sharpness etc all came into selection for me and would also determine player abilities. By the end of 2024 for instance when I got sacked (very short lived spell as boss!) Joe Morrell wasn't playing at all for Dundee Utd at the time. Nor was Matt Smith. So options at centre mid were thread bare along with Ramsey and Allen retiring. Bale was still playing funnily enough but was stats were absolutely abysmal. My last squad featured the likes of Harry Clifton, Robbie Burton (who was playing regularly for Dinamo) and a lad called Benji Purcell who plays for Reading who came out of nowhere! Also rightfully gave Andrew Hughes and Chris Maxwell a good number of caps too!!

talyfanYeah it's definitely not as good or as flexible as FM. What I will say is that their most recent edition is more flexible with player development For example, Brennan's actual potential is only 85. But if you play him regularly in a good team in good form he will exceed that to the 90 I got him to This works with any player in theory, although it's unlikely you'd be able to get random players with low potential emerging suddenly, more so that you could get a Clifton or a Terry Taylor up to a 78 if you do it right
