Another centre half, 16 years old was on the bench for Blackburn in the FA cup. Currently an england u17 international but was a part of our u16 team that defeated England back in April. Very highly rated at Blackburn and a lot of their fans think he’ll go onto have a big career. Expect him to be back in our youth squads soon.

Its good his mum is Welsh. The hand that rocks the craddle is a major positive! I'd wager 70-80% of our English born players have a Welsh mum, which means plenty of trips home over the border

I guess if we qualify for the WC and give a decent account of ourselves there and moving forward, then that has to help our cause with him and other dual qualified kids

Starting for Blackburn in late pre-season. Looks like he’s extremely highly rated. Perhaps one for the new u21s manager to try to persuade to play for us.

Given our situation at centre back I'd like to think he'd pick us if he's any good, we need numbers and options there, healthy competition.

Swans play Blackburn early August. Hopefully he and Vale are in their squad, as it's the game I intend on going to.

This guy looks like a machine. Only just turned 17 and has been playing with the u23’s. I imagine a top club will pick him up. Not too hopeful he’ll choose Wales though.
Terence Miles the young Liverpool CB is Welsh qualified. He’s currently an England u18 international.
Both look like they have decent potential and could add to our options if they keep developing.

Yes I agree with it possibly looking unlikely that he’ll choose us. Hopefully he sees some merit in our pathway. I notice he has played for our u16s though, albeit he’s now an England u17 player. He posted about his u16 experience with us which demonstrates he has some interest at least! Hopefully Gus Williams can act as an insider to persuade him! In relation to Miles, his socials seem even more pro-England than Phillips. I’m sure the FAW are/will do the best they can to get the cream of the talent pool to play for us. Some just won’t have the interest e.g. Darlow and Jay Da Silva (Not that those two would be better than the starters we already have- but certainly would have merited call-ups in the past).

The positive thing now I guess is that Wales have a profile because of their success and they know its possible they could play on the big stage with us
So England may be their first love but we all know how difficult it is to get into their team and stay there. If Wales remain successful then even from a selfish perspective they will know playing for Wales give them an opportunity to market themselves on another stage if their England call does not come.
What has happened to that Hill lad at Liverpool. There is no way we should be just passive and allow him to go down the Ireland path unless he has a stronger relationship with Ireland. We have a better pathway and Cardiff is more convenient for him than Dublin.
Hope the next U21 coach has a more proactive approach than Bodin, as it does seem he was too passive in terms of recruiting talent and not proactive enough in terms of promoting younger talent, despite his dire record.

Its a weird one with Darlow. Grandad in the 1958 squad but zero affinity towards us, while not exactly ripping it up at club level or anywhere near England. To not be interested in being involved in an international tournament too given Wales' rising star over the past 7 years is surprising.
Is he better than Hennesey and Ward? Serious question because if its obvious he's better than his decision is even stranger. If he things he'd be bench warming as a number 2 or 3 then you could understand it.
The good thing is we don't need him so he can stay in the shadows - more fool him!

Yeah, he played Wales u16’s. Presume he was Ashley Famuyiwa back then? He played in a victory over England if so. Hopefully a parting gift from Gus! I presume Miles hasn’t played at any level for Wales? Think he pulled out of the u16’s after being selected. Although I wouldn’t want to close the door on a young player, if he’s not interested .. what’s the point. It should be a privilege. What’s the story with Jay DaSilva? Has he ever been approached to join up with the squad? He’s a decent player but hasn’t really kicked on. Weird he has no interest, Cole always seemed really proud to represent Wales. I know he’s got a load of English youth caps but he’s tripping if he thinks he’ll get any at senior level!

It’s good to hear that Tom Hill is playing again after that terrible injury. Really strange that he accepted that call up from Ireland. It would be scandalous if it were due to not having contact from Wales considering the awful results and some of the dross in the squad. Dross is probably a bit strong, but players that are unlikely to reach international standard. I don’t believe Tom Hill played a match so we may have another opportunity to get him involved. Unless he does feel more affiliated to Ireland, as you say. Hopefully a new coach and a fresh approach. I’m looking forward to seeing the next u21 squad. It’s an opportunity to bring in some new faces and promote some of the younger talent. There are certainly a couple younger faces that could have been pushed up to the u21’s already!

The 1958 squad and Wales was so poorly run that maybe Ken used to tell Karl about how much of a shower of shit it was?

I’m pretty sure Ken used to tell him that the ball was much heavier in his day and he had to clean his own boots. I’m also pretty sure that these had no bearing on Karl’s decisions as a professional in the 2000s

The next u21 squad should be very interesting - I do hope that we call up younger players than we have been, as I don't think the plan of calling up players until they are too old works that well
There's plenty who should be getting a look in if they're not at senior level;
Jordan James Charlie Savage Cameron Congreve Luke Harris James Crole Chris Popov Luca Hoole Oli Denham
Just to name a few...

17 y.o. central defender started for Blackburn Rovers today. Eligible for Wales but likely we're going to miss out on him as per DS.

Left the field injured after 70 minutes.t He could have the carrot of playing in the WC if he carries on performing well at this level!

May as well offer him a senior call-up. Looks to be a player.
I’ve faith in our system that we’d do everything in our power to persuade him. If he’s not interested then fair enough.
