Fair play to the lads they were all warriors today. We rode our luck but what teams don't. I have been critical but Rob Page has done class and will probably go down as the best Wales manager ever unless we have some very good years ahead. The game nearly killed me but this is beyond incredible. It's a good job I'm already bald !

One lad on call Rob saying his 12 year old lad has only ever known the Wales team having success. Can you imagine that?!?! It’s such a crazy generational gap in expectation and experience

Was still expecting a 95th minute equaliser. Maybe that's the point with the players too. Just don't expect to lose. Chris Tosser Sutton on 5 Live asking can Wales compete at the world cup. Too right they can.

I'm at work and the lad I'm with is celebrating more than me! I'm wearing a spirit of 58 Joe Ledley t-shirt and he's pointing at it, hugging me and cheering, the game finished an hour ago but he's still pumped!!!

It’s such a crazy generational gap in expectation and experience They're so lucky. The kids I coach are a little spoilt to tell the truth. They aren't bothered by individual Wales matches but watch the Euros. I keep trying to tell them to soak it all in whilst they can, we were once statistically worse than Faroe Islands. It might not last forever.

Wish we had an honours system in Wales, Page would immediately get the highest one available. What a coup for us!

It's different now though from say the nineties. We have acceptable quality all over the pitch and good back up too. Plus these guys are getting tournament experience on a regular basis. Also qualifying means we get at least 8 million quid. If the FAW avoid any/many brain farts, we're hopefully building a structure which will last for years. Hoping that some of the class of 16 carry on in coaching roles for us also. Looking forward to the 3 Nations League games now against quality opposition. Daunting but great preparation.

So, so proud of this generation of players!
Bale - give him the freedom of Cardiff and Wales! No one prioritises their country over club like he has. Incredible and he keeps delivering one way or another!
PS - Brennan is going to be so, so special for us. He always makes the right decision!
So sorry for Ukraine. Lets hope there hell comes to an end soon.

Uncle Sam Vs little Old Wales will decide who comes second. More than capable of beating them to.

Think Page said a third of the £8mn will go to facilities / support through the tournament, a third to the players and a third to the WFA for (hopefully) investment and not to grow committees!

Page - from failed Port Vale managers to
1. Getting us promotion to League A of Nations League 2. Getting us through the group stages of Euro 2020 3. Getting us through to play offs for WC 4. Getting us through 2 play offs to a WORLD CUP!!!!
WOW!
How positive a contribution do you think his #2 from Sheffield UTD has made? I criticised it - thinking it was a bit old school but so glad to be seemingly wrong!!!
HAPPY DAYS!

I tell you what, what will always stick with me was Brian Flynn’s comments about Toshack’s time with Wales, this was on a 5 live special on the eve of the Belgium game in 2016 and he tried to explain Toshack’s thinking while we were failing to beat the likes of New Zealand and he said that Tosh said to him one day: “If we can get these lads to 50 caps Bri, it will be happy days”. Looking back, as much as I hate to admit that there was a method to his madness, time has proved him to be absolutely right.

Two of the most heroic performances I've seen in a Welsh shirt, from both Ben Davies and Wayne Hennessey.
Ben Davies has to be future captain, truly one of our greatest ever defenders, who'll be playing top level football for club and country for the next 5 years. Moving into future tournaments, he's going to give us so much stability at centre-back.
Hennessey with possibly his greatest night in a Welsh shirt.

Wel,well, well. Wales at the world cup. Something I had long given up the idea of ever witnessing. It wasn't a great performance by any measure. Neco, Ben and Wayne were magnificent but we were tactically inept in terms of our team selection - we were always going to get overrun in midfield given the way Ukraine play and the personnel we had on the pitch, and our unwillingness to make obvious substitutions was perplexing. It's a good job Aaron has so much goodwill credit in the bank - he was absolutely awful. But who cares; ryn ni yma o hyd!

To be fair we were dog rough then, it’s an ugly but maybe inevitable question: independence or success. Football is also cyclical too. It’s a fucking loooooong ass cycle but we are back at a World Cup after 64 years

Controversial point: I don’t think Hennessy saved anything I wouldn’t expect Ward to save. Maybe I’m being harsh as I’ve never been a pro keeper! What I thought he did well was make a very early decision not to catch anything and to go safety first given the conditions. I feel Ward might have tried too much handling of the ball. For me though there wasn’t a world class save needed that I think Ward would have missed. That being said I feel the recognition is deserved for Hennessys career as a whole. He’s been very dependable even when not playing for his club. Ben Davies was the big performance after Bale. He sweeps up so well and because his work is at the defensive end it goes under the raider compared to Bale. He’s continued on from the clearance in the first 2016 Euros game and performed the role of being in the right place at the right time the whole time since.

How many players can Cymru take to the WC in our squad?

It's to be confirmed, at the moment it's thought to be 23, but there's reportedly been some discussions about expanding it to 26.

It'll be like being born into a Man City supporting family now. Finishing 4th/5th, getting excited that League Two strikers with a few FA Cup goals are Welsh, being out of qualification at the half way stage, always thinking about next campaign to this. Toshack is a legend. We were just drifting along before him. I know he had his faults but he had the plan to knock it all down and rebuild the foundations.

Still, the growing caravan of decent choices is better than ever, therefore many possible squad members now starting to think about what they need to do at the start of next season to make the cut. I'm waiting for somebody to crete that thread.....!

Yep, I hated Toshack’s era, I thought he retired Savage far too soon and made his job immeasurably harder whilst accruing embarrassing headlines like the talksport one above where we sunk to our lowest ebb….but it feels like that was very much part of the pain to ensure future success. We swallowed some horrible medicine and eventually we got back to rude health. Mad to think that there’s a generation of kids who can’t appreciate the despair of losing to Montenegro away on the first day of the campaign, on a Friday evening, ruining not only your night out and your weekend but also rendering the entire campaign to come worthless such were the fine margins.

I remember that match. There was so much hype around having Bale, Morison and Bellamy I think and how they're ready to be let loose. Inevitable 1-0 loss.

I think they'll bump it up to 30 or so, along with 4 or 5 substitutes. COVID hasn't gone away and will likely make a re-appearance in the winter, so teams will need enough players in the event of a "wipe-out" to keep the competition from turning into a farce.
