16 year old just signed for Bristol City. Previously played for England u16s, could be eligible due to father being born in Wales - FAW to confirm according to Dragon Soccer www.bbc.com/sport/football/61439270.amp

Has there been official confirmation of Tim ap Siôn’s eligibility (and intention) to play for us?
He’s 16 so imagine he’d be eligible for selection for the next u17s games?
Recently scored for Bristol City’s u18 team. Sounds a good prospect, rapid too apparently. Hopefully gets a good run there. Surely there’s other Welsh players in that squad bending his ear (if needed).

Surely there’s other Welsh players in that squad bending his ear (if needed). Dragon Soccer have included him in their database of players (link below - he's listed under youth). I can't see any asterisks or anything, so that suggests no query over his eligibility - I'd say that means he's been checked and confirmed. No doubt the FAW will have contacted his family to see if there is interest on their side In terms of desire to play for us, there has been nothing reported. But I guess that means no information either way at present. I think probably best to keep an eye out for the next Wales & England youth squads to see if he makes an appearance as that will give us a bit more information dragonsoccer.co.uk/newsite/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1655415453&archive=&start_from=&ucat=10&

Scored a hatrick in a 9-0 win for Bristol City’s u18s against Hull.
Given he’s a channel islander of Welsh ancestry, is he only eligible for us?
Isn’t that how Alex Scott is only eligible for England?
Christ it’s confusing.
Seems to be following the Cymru accounts and players on Twitter so that’s a decent sign I suppose!

If someone called "ap Sion" doesn't choose play for us we might as well pack up and go home

From what I understand his dad is Welsh, but he must have another parent or grandparent that was born in England 3) There was a rule where if all of your parents and grandparents were born in the channel islands that you could choose any UK nation to represent, but I believe that rule is changing to you can only represent England in future. Not sure when that rule kicks in tho and it would be a very rare occurrence anyway

Could be a Ryan Giggs scenario, if that was the case.
