As a bit of light relief from the politics I thought I’d create a distraction by starting a cosy agreeable chat about a totally not controversial question:
Is tomorrow bigger than the Euros semi-final?
In my opinion, 100%. Probably the biggest game since the 1958 World Cup.
At the end of the day the Euros is great but they have ruined the format (something I know I’ve not mentioned before 😂) by increasing the participation at the finals.
The World Cup, 32 team format has always been the hardest competition to compete in. With it changing to 48 teams this is our last chance to actually beat the ultra hard qualification format so it’s much more important than the Euros. The World Cup is the greatest sporting event on earth imo and that’s backed up by the viewing figures, it would be huge for Wales to be on that stage

Yes, everything in our favour, bar the whole geopolitics of it all. Haven't felt this nervous since Romania home in the early 90's.

Unlikely to have many semi finals in the future however.

As great a feat as was our Euros achievement, many millions more will watch us if we can make it to Qatar.

This is by far the bigger game. I've got baggage from 85 and 93. I still can't watch the Romania game when it pops up on you tube. Winning tonight would finally put that hurt to bed. Another reason is my dad is ill in hospital and he was a schoolboy and remembers listening to the 58 world cup on the radio so I'm hoping we can do it for him. This will definatly be Bale, Ramsey and Allen's last chance to. This could sky rocket our world profile also. I think with USA and Iran in our group, we could get through to the knock out stages and who knows from there? What a chance! Come on Wales!

World Cup expanding only means another 3 uefa teams qualify. Still will be very difficult.

I think so. Anything after the semi was a bonus. Feels like we have a lot to lose today. I’m feeling more and more optimistic though.

This match is massive but I'd seriously have the Portugal semi final, the Belgium quarter final and maybe even the Slovakia matches as potentially bigger.
Amazing that we are pushing for these moments.

I thought it was tantamount to heresy to even suggest that this game is bigger but it’s surprised me the number of people on here and elsewhere who have dared to argue that this game is bigger.
In many ways the fact that we have made it to a Euros semi yet still not qualified for a World Cup in 64 years shows how difficult it actually is just to qualify and I think some under-estimate that difficulty.
In a paradoxical sense if we lose today I guess that further confirms how massive this game would have been as it would then be nearly 70 years since our last World Cup yet have qualified for the Euros twice (making the knock out rounds both times).

I think we are a tournament team. We've been up against some decent teams in the groups and found a way to progress through. Maybe having our players not being first choice we are in tournaments against teams where players have had long seasons and we're more capable of getting everyone at peak level for a short period. There's some countries that always qualify like Poland who have strong squads but always struggle to get out of a group. Yet I don't think we could match Polands qualification record.

Astute observation that and looking back I guess you can make a correlation that we are better suited to a situation where our players can live together as a club side for a few weeks as opposed to a double header every few months. I guess with the latter it also facilitates injuries hampering our plans which has obviously been a curse of Welsh football every time a double header rolls around.

For me personally, last night was bigger than the Euro 2016 games. One, this was a game to qualify for the ultimate holy grail in world football. Two, qualifying is the hardest part for a country like us, and anything afterwards is a bonus (imo). So yeah, last night was a bigger occassion for me.
