There is, quite rightly a lot of talk about Bale, Davies, Hennessy, et….but is it just me or has the real hero gone under the radar here. By that I mean the home record. The odds swung in Ukraine’s favour over night but on paper when you look at our fearsome home record for Ukraine to be favourites seems to be the stuff of mentalist fantasy.
We’ve faced the likes of Belgium, Croatia and the Czech rep at home on the run of results that make up our home record since ROI in 1998 and all left licking their wounds. To expect the Ukraine to dent that home record was a massive and thankless task and the way the game went mirrored that with Wales typically not necessarily being the best side on the pitch but being good enough to get the job done just about. A familiar refrain.
Apart from sheer bloody mindedness by the spectators I’m not sure what creates a home record that immense but whatever it is we need to acknowledge the part played by the supporters who take part in it. Well done to all who went and cheered. There is obviously something about playing at home that really makes up for the occasional gap in quality.

24 years since our last home defeat, that is impressive.

The unsung hero is Antonio Conte. Ben Davies has excelled under his leadership.

The unsung hero is Antonio Conte. Ben Davies has excelled under his leadership. I think it's the other way around. The Premier League commentariat have been going on about how he's been a revelation under Conte, when in reality it's just been the Ben Davies we've seen in a Welsh shirt for the last 7 or 8 years. He's always been a fantastic LCB, he just needed a manager who uses that system

Speaking of Conte, hope he saw the match and how well Rodon can play. He won header after header in the box. Too good to be a PL bench warmer.

24 years since our last home defeat, that is impressive. 24 years? Is that supposed to say matches or did we set a record like that in like 1891 or something like that?

24 years since our last home defeat, that is impressive. 24 years? Is that supposed to say matches or did we set a record like that in like 1891 or something like that? 24 months maybe? Our last home loss was against Denmark in the Nations League, 2018. Nearly 4 years without losing a home game. Pretty impressive for a country of our size and resources.
