Sandwiching Brussels in between Bruges and Luxembourg so if anyone has tips for either of those two places let me know! Looking forward to escaping the flag shagging hellscape the UK is currently indulging itself in. I'm off to watch the Michael Sheen video on repeat until next week. I've heard Bruges is like a fairytale. Knew a couple of Irish blokes who'd disagree strongly...

Haha, that film...! But seriously, Bruges is an enchanting place - highly recommend a visit if you've not been before.
Turning to matchday in Belgium, only just over a week away now, has anyone received their ticket for the game yet? (I paid an extra seven quid for Royal Mail special delivery, though I appreciate that many will be picking up their tickets on the day itself from the FAW collection point in Brussels). My mates and I will only just make it for the KO, so I want my ticket to be with me in my pocket!

I don’t think they’ve sent them out yet. I too am waiting.
They only sent the survey out yesterday and I think that has to be done first?

Anyone used Flibco before? Read the reviews on Google for from Charleroi airport to Brussels and they look terrible 🤣 I'm giving it a go. Only going to the centre though, lot of the complaint seem to be the door service

I would be tempted to go with this for Belgium away:
Ward Meps Rodon Davies Connor Ampadu Allen Neco Bale Moore James
As ever, our options in midfield are weak. Mepham has just won Bournemouth's player of the month, so I'd be tempted to play Ampadu next to Allen. With Rambo, Wilson, and Brooks unavailable, our CAM options are limited. With Ampadu and Allen sitting back, I think we can afford to test Bale out in that role. That also ensures we have lots of energy up front to press them.

Very pleased with Luke’s call up. Although I’m surprised not to see Jordan James I must admit. All indications were that he was ready to commit to us. Hopefully he’s in our u21s, not England’s u19s or u21s!

Hopefully he’s in our u21s, not England’s u19s or u21s! Gunter, Williams, Tyler Roberts! Two fourth division players and a striker who doesn't score goals! To be honest if I was Jordan James I'd be picking England!

Don’t get the hate or why it is questioned every single time.

What is it with Page and his Williams and Gunter love in? surely we all know the answer to this? Gunter is obviously part of the glue that keeps this squad together (esp Bale and Ramsey). Williams has never let us down and brings something genuinely different when he comes on with his dribbling ability. sum of the parts and all that... cant believe people are still questioning it after this squad has got us to a world cup.

How many times does Jonny Williams have to prove that he is an inspirational, unique and hugely effective (even game-changing) player for us? He does so almost every time he comes on the pitch for us, yet all we hear about is that he plays in league 2. I don’t care, he’s a big asset.

Wish people would see that. Made a sensible decision to probably keep himself playing for Wales. He could easily earn more money and be out injured all the time playing higher up.

Waste of a squad place, he should be part of the backroom staff.

I think with JJ they are really looking to narrow down the squad for the WC and he won't be in that, I'm sure if he keeps performing he'll be in our squad for whatever games come after.

Ward Ampadu Rodon Davies Connor Morrell Allen Neco Bale Moore James OR Ward Connor Meps Rodon Davies Neco Ampadu Morrell Allen Bale James

(which he clearly is). and also, its not like some major talent is being ignored for him is it. I totally get your point that he isn't playing, but I just cant get my head round why people are still complaining about it. its clear what he offers us... we're wales with a tiny playing pool and the 26 man squad gives us the luxury to take 'extras'.

No problem with him being around the squad as backroom staff. Lockyer is a much better CB though. And yes Gunter can cover right back but it's a horror show when he does.

I'm hoping he doesn't go for the 523 option though (or 343 - whatever you want to call it). We've never played well in that formation, including the win against Ukraine. We've always performed better with two up top playing slightly more centrally. On the second lineup - the midfield is potentially a little samey - there's no one there to drive us forward, which would risk inviting pressure and leaving large gaps between midfield and the two up top in my view. I wouldn't mind Jonny Williams starting to provide that impetus from midfield.

Think just saying 'take him as a backroom staff' is a little naïve. Do we even know that he's done the qualifications? He's a professional player, not a coach, so how would you go about doing that? Also, it becomes a completely different dynamic if he's there in a coaching capacity rather than a playing one. He wouldn't be part of the group, participating in training etc., it would be a different role so you'd still lose him as a popular member of the squad.

that's kind of my point... Lockyer wouldn't kick a ball at the world cup, so if page thinks Gunter brings more to the squad then so be it. I guess dropping/promoting Gunter to back room staff wouldn't be the best for squad morale. Maybe it would work for after the world cup but it would be crazy to disrupt anything this close to the tournament.

Fair points, but what does picking players without merit do to morale? Whose to say that all 35 other members of the squad like Gunter? It's a tightrope for Page and one that he hopefully doesn't have to walk much longer.

If Mepham and Morrell are injured then it's not inconceivable for him to start, based purely on ability.
