Started tonight and looks like he did really well. Made one of the goals and was involved in several other chances. It follows some good performances in preseason too. Was on the bench in the Championship on the weekend - so all in all he looks like a top prospect considering he only just turned 17

Will be interesting to see if/how we fast track him. He played left-wing as per SofaScore so in theory battling with DJ and Broadhead for the senior spots. Might be worth a u21 or a full call-up to train (or even play against Gibraltar).
Hopefully Luke Harris gets minutes in the friendlies too. Slightly frustrating that he hasn’t had minutes, although admittedly our performances under Page recently has meant that we could ill-afford to test out youngsters bar JJ for a minute or two a couple of times.

Will Jenkins-Davies another local Welsh qualified youngster. Don't suppose Caleb Roberts has any Welsh connections?

Freddie Issaka has extended his Plymouth deal til 2028 - turns 18 later this month He was involved in plenty of squads last season so this could be a breakthrough season if he manages to take advantage of the opportunities I suspect he will get this year

Rooney is a rubbish manager but he does at least seem to give young players a chance, Jordan James at Birmingham last season

Man of the match for Plymouth last night and getting plenty of praise on Twitter Still only just turned 18 Can see him making a push for the squad very soon, especially if he continues getting minutes in the Championship. A young out and out striker playing at that level, probably in a style that Bellamy likes. Wouldn't surprise me to see him fast tracked!

I imagine u21s are more likely especially if Koumas is with the seniors

Rooney, for all his faults, does place a lot of faith in young players to be fair to him. Following Issaka's good performance in the cup I can see him getting a decent few chances in the league this season. September's international window is probably be too soon now, but if he scores a couple of goals by October or November I could see him making those squads.

Starting LW and scoring in the Championship at the age of 18. Wouldn't stun me to see him fast tracked to the seniors soon, although admittedly it's a hotly contested position in this side
Thought he could also play up front so maybe another striking option?

Confirmed on the dragonsoccer Web site, thru sources a few weeks ago no U21 age group planned matches in November 2024
U21s 2004+ set currently for a camp in March 2025
Which camp for Freddie next month as tweeted by myself yesterday
Will have to wait and see on that one, currently looks like U19 uefa qualifiers in Scotland, updates on websites at the start of the month

Searched his name on twitter, and their fans seemed to be looking at the decision to start him as desperation, saying that he obviously wasn't ready for this level. They were slagging off his performance before he scored. He took his goal well, although it was fairly straightforward. Think you're getting way ahead of yourself if you think he's about to be first choice at Plymouth and pushing for an international callup.

He did relatively well against Cardiff off the bench the week before, especially considering the game status and lack of momentum of his side, scored on his debut but ultimately is a young man with lots to learn. He's not ready yet but hopefully will continue to get chances off the bench or starts throughout this year and we can see where we go from there.

It's not like he was just chucked in at random mind, he's been in the matchday squad regularly this season Hopefully he can get more opportunities, clearly rated at Plymouth

He's not ready yet but hopefully will continue to get chances off the bench or starts throughout this year and we can see where we go from there. Fair enough, perhaps I’m being too miserable! I just think there’s a lot of false impressions of players’ form and development which lead to misguided views on squad selection decisions and our perceived quality. As fans, we obviously can’t follow the progress of the 200-odd professional players closely, so all we get are glimpses of their development, and those glimpses that come up tend to be only the best parts. People don’t notice when Mullin goes through half a dozen games without scoring, but once he scores a few games back to back people think he’s been tearing it up all season and are outraged that he isn’t selected. People see the 2 or 3 screamers that Charlie Savage scored, but not the half a dozen games he was dropped for. People see a few tidy finishes from Will Evans when it pops up on their twitter feed, but not the several games of fairly indifferent form. I just get frustrated when I see see people making a massive fuss about XYZ player not being selected when they’ve only seen the good things they’ve done and seem to be under the impression they’re doing those things constantly. Back to Issaka, he’s had a few cameos in the league and seems to have struggled to make much of an impact judging by their fans’ comments on him (and let’s not forget fans usually overly hype their own youth prospects). He’s a decent prospect for us, far behind Koumas but ahead of some others. I don’t think there’s a lot of evidence to suggest that this is going to be a breakthrough season for him at this point where he will be pushing for senior involvement with the national side, but someone to keep an eye on.
