If he breaks through to be a regular GK in the MLS that's better than most of our other GKs. Still a few years away yet but interesting to hear of someone eligible in a foreign league

Bloody hell!!! A 15 year old keeper in the States. Bale retires and we become a rabble over night. Slim pickings now. Bring back Bobby Gould

The NY contract seems like a big deal and he's involved in the US age group squads. Maybe Ryan and Rob would welcome a US import at Wrexham! Similarly interested in the 'Irish' lad at Fleetwood.

There's already a Welsh eligible number 1 playing in the MLS and his name's bond. Johnathan Bond

No mean feat making 19 appearances with the Red Bulls second team this season at his age & 4 other goal-keepers listed by the club with according to the New York Red bulls website a recorded 60.6% save percentage in 18 matches.
Hope he stays with us.

So he’s got no real connection to Wales? In the sense that although he is Welsh qualified, he plays for US youth and now has accepted a call up by England? Sounds like a bit of a non-story the whole way round here as it doesn’t seem like he’ll ever be part of the Welsh set up if he’s juggling between England and the US.
A shame really as with a few first team appearances at club level he’d be a starter at international level for Wales. Ah well, his choice….

Ah interesting, thanks DS. So he will have played for 3 different youth set ups with the England call up. Sorry, but not really a fan of all this nonsense. I shall leave it at that.

If he's good enough to play for England or the USA you can't begrudge him doing that. It's probably unlikely that he is good enough for either, in which case I imagine we have a decent chance with him. Best to wait a bit and see how his career progresses tho, could just be another Freddy Adu type. Only once he starts getting MLS games can we really say he's first team level for us, in which case we could probably try and call him up to the seniors. I expect we're a few years away from that

Nationality is becoming more complex for lots of people. He certainly won't be the first to dip his toes into England set-up and many have decided it doesn't feel right for them, especially with increasing risk of burn out/injury to excessive fixture lists and their press/fans being so unsupportive.
I'm in the "wait and see" camp. As long as he doesn't Declan Rice by nailing his colours to the wall and then u-turning with flimsy reasoning.

Appears his 13 yr old sister has been diagnosed with leukemia. Kind of puts things into perspective. All the best for a positive outcome.

I expect we're a few years away from that I just hate nationality being reduced to business decisions. It’s the commodification of a part of the game that had until recent times been beyond that. I don’t recall it being a thing 20 odd years ago but with the constant relaxing of the eligibility rules you can now hawk yourself round the best team you are qualified for and court a number of fallback nations as a backup. It’s mercenary and the national game was never about that imo

People have more varied ethnic/national backgrounds and late stage capitalism pursuing revenue growth non-stop means this was always going to happen. I think it's important not to be too precious about it, especially given that it usually works in our favour in the end
