The FAW have launched a Welsh course available to everyone, aimed at helping people learn Welsh through football. It also includes other essential basics in the language
This will be great for anyone who watches S4C and wishes they could understand more

This is also a brilliant idea, I'm a learner and have always found it easier to pick up the language when I'm interested in the topic. I find it much easier to understand conversation about football on Radio Cymru than anything else, for example.

Same mate, and if you can learn all the football terms/jargon then it becomes quite easy to understand most of what's being said particularly based on context

When I am refereeing, if I am aware of Welsh speaking players I always let them know that I'm happy to communicate with them in Welsh but if I am communicating with all players it will be in English. The offer is usually appreciated.
The above is important as lots of Welsh Medium pupils for example do not often have opportunities to converse in Welsh outside of school. When doing junior games, my approach has always been welcomed by parents when I converse with their son/daughter in Welsh.
