Just to warn anyone We went to the ice cream van last night parked on cross of sloper and leckwith roads. paid by card and instead of putting in £2.50 the guy put in £25.00 - i saw him do it deliberate and then check as he handed the machine to me Luckily i spotted it... as I imagine chasing down a wrong card payment from an ice cream van would be problematic Wonder how many others he's done that too

If you have the name of the van you should report to the council

Call me old fashioned but that is one of the reasons I still use cash.
Watching people in pubs happily tapping away without even checking what has been entered makes me worry for them.

If you dont notice, how many people will check their statements and realise what that was. Dodgy! will be taking cash in future.

I am the same, you know what you have spent. Still remember the halcyonic times of waking up after a heavy session the next morning, looking in your jeans pocket working out how much you have spent, then saying 'Ahh ffs' 🤣

Just as an extra security on the occasions I do use my card (shops / internet etc) the Nat West App now immediately sends you a Push Notification showing the transaction. One of the best things they have introduced in my opinion.

As long as you check the amount it’s fine. You can be short changed in cash, how many people over the years have given a £20 note and had change of £10 back after drinking several pints? Pros and cons to everything.

A good reminder to always check what the seller has put in on the screen. You're not getting it back if you've agreed to pay it.

Grassroots teams fined £12 for yellow cards and I think £20 for red cards in Wales. That’s hundreds of yellows and reds every week, the FAW is pocketing this money, I can’t work the maths out but it could easily be in the hundreds of thousands if not millions over a season, any idea where it’s going?

I love that you've posted this in a scams outside the stadium thread, that's cracked me up! I too wonder where it's going though, very good point.

Refereeing costs? A couple of yellows and a red at those rates would cover travel & expenses.

Could it also be seen as a way to hand out "cheap cards" to raise revenue?
