Hi all, back again with away day locations. This time for the Nations League this year. The draw is on 8th Feb at 5pm our time so thought I’d get this smashed out. Thanks to gwernybwch for the timely reminder.
We're in Pot 1 which means we can't draw Austria, Czech Republic or England.
Helpfully a lot play in the same place but a couple you may want to hold fire on such as Ukraine and Turkey. Anyway hope this helps and hopefully these won’t be the first opportunities we get to go away to watch Wales this year. Any questions let me know.
Pot 2
Finland - Olympic Stadium, Helsinki (36,000) - All games.
Ukraine - Obviously no Ukraine home games are currently played within Ukrainian borders. Games are played in different countries from game to game so it’s not worth me putting much here. Games have been played in such countries as Poland, Germany, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Iceland - Laugardalsvöllur, Reykjavik (9,500) - All games.
Norway - Ullevaal Stadium, Oslo (28,000) - All games.
Pot 3
Slovenia - Stozice Stadium, Ljubljana (16,038) - All games.
Republic of Ireland - Aviva Stadium, Dublin (51,700) - All games.
Albania - Mostly play at Arena Kombëtare, Tirana (22,500). Sometimes at Elbasan Arena, Elbasan (12,800).
Montenegro - Podgorica City Stadium (11,050) - All games.
Pot 4
Georgia - Multiple locations, mainly in Tbilisi. Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena (54,202) for the bigger games (Scotland and Spain). Smaller games have been played at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium (27,223) (Cyprus). They also played one game (Norway) at the Batumi Stadium in Batumi (20,383), ideally we wouldn’t play here as it’s an 8 hour drive away from Tbilisi.
Greece - All recent games have been played at Agia Sophia Stadium, Athens (32,500). Other games have been played at Georgios Kamaras Stadium, Athens (14,200); Panthessaliko Stadium, Volos (22,700) and Olympic Stadium, Athens (69,618).
Turkey - Multiple locations. Could really be anywhere as we’re all too aware after the last campaign. Recently they’ve played at Konya (42,000); Eskişehir (32,500); Samsun (34,000); Bursa (43,361); Izmir (19,713). Not many have been played in Istanbul lately but some smaller Nations Leagues games were played at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium (17,156). Some bigger games in the last WC qualification campaign in Istanbul were played at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium (50,530) and Vodafone Park (42,590). Basically, you might want to hold fire if we draw Turkey again.
Kazakhstan - Almost all at the Astana Arena, Astana (30,244). Very rarely played at the Central Stadium in Almaty (23,804). This might have just been during Covid though.
As always, please only use this as a guide, as we’ve seen in the past teams we’re playing like to send us where we least expect it sometimes. If you see any mistakes let me know and I'll update.
