**Jumps on soapbox**
I’ve had a bee in my bonnet about this for a while, but bloody hell, Hen Wlad fy Nhadau sounds horrific at Wales Away games!
Its the polar opposite of Cardiff City Stadium where it sounds brilliant with the music turned off.
But I don’t think its possible to be so out of kilter with the music at aways, and ruins it for me.
Now I realise we’re all usually blind drunk but the music isn’t played at that fast a tempo yet by the end of the first chorus its already hopelessly out of step, but then the ‘Gwlad Gwlads’ kick in even before the music/band has reached that bit!
I’ve been in many an away end, blind drunk myself, but it doesn’t seem difficult to at least try to keep to the music!
Sorry, rant over! 😂

The FAW really need to submit a decent version of it to be played, it's been ridiculous for years and years and goes a long way to ruining a truly beautiful thing

The music is too fast at the start, then it becomes too slow. There's too big of a gap between "dros ryddid collasant eu gwaed" and "Gwlad! Gwlad!", then at the end is too slow
I know Ian Gwyn Hughes has said something along the lines of "we've had experts come in to try and get the music right but for some reason we can't get it right". But I honestly think it's a simple fix, so if anyone from the FAW reads this forum and sees this message here's what you need to do to fix it...
Play a recording of the crowd singing it at home to someone who understands music. Ask them to re-record the music in line with the exact tempo the fans sing it at home. Boom! Easy! Problem solved!

I thought it was to do with having to make it fit into a prescribed timing (is it 60 seconds?) which means the tempo has to be increased to fit it all in. I think this was the original reason for turning the music off at home games, as it was just as much of a dogs dinner at the CCS.

I don't know where this idea has come from that it should be sung at a funeral pace.

The fans sing the following lines much slower than the music Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri We're then out of sync for the rest of the song. They need to slow down the music at the start, leave less of a gap before Gwlad! Gwlad! and then it would be about right for the rest of it

Because there less than a thousand in the stand. Doesn't matter. Was the same in Qatar.

If there's one thing I've learned whilst performing live music for the past 20 years, is that performing collective music is all about listening. Sometimes listening is more important that performing your actual parts. We don't realise that when we sing the anthem, we are musically performing. Therefore we need to listen. Before the music was turned off at home, the crowd was always out of time. I could always hear the backing track clearly, so it's always been loud enough. So whilst listening to the anthem, it's always been easy to stay exactly in time. However, if no one is listening to it, then you get pulled to the tempo of the crowd instead. So if you're at an away game, listen to the flipping track and you'll be fine!

Aye makes sense but nobody is doing that when you can’t even hear it over the people singing around you. FAW should insist we get to perform the anthem acapella (spelling??) as we do at home. Only realistic way of improving it
