Tosh says we'd never get a UK ref for our home games. Probably true, but would it do us any good anyway? Would it be a good thing or a bad thing?

His comments on Bale were better I thought - ripped into Redknapp for not knowing what he was doing and only playing Bale due to an injury to Assou Ekoto! Ref could be important as it'll be a close match, but we have class goign forward to score - all depends on whether we keep them out.

It does seem a bit suspect. We would never get a Scottish or Irish ref.

We did actually have an English referee for our home World Cup qualifying match against Cyprus in 1993, Phillip Don was in charge, the Cypriots were as you can imagine not happy either.

Yeah but Greece is not even on the bordrer of Montenegro so you could argue that its no closer than France is to us.

This is total nonsense, the nationality of the ref is irrelevant. If it were a Montenegrin ref or even Serbian we might have a complaint but not a Greek.

Have to say the ref had a poor game tonight. Might have to reconsider that earlier remark!

Incredible how their No2 didn't go for two bookables before the assault on Collins as well.
I sound like a broken bloody record sometimes with this but I'm sure I'm not just being biased and there were at least two red cards for Montenegro players in that game.
We didn't play that well but the refereeing didn't exactly help.

Let's not piss about here- he conned us by giving Morison a yellow an then letting their no.3 off with nothing, not even a free kick in a similar incident.
Other than that I wouldn't say there was bias, montenegro just played the ref a treat. It was virtually non-contact for a lot of the game. Really made a mug of pekovic who claimed that we know how to cheat, Montenegro are the epitome of a cynical side.
I really would love to have a league two ref for the return fixture and see us pummel the s**t out of the b@st@rds.

we cant really blame the ref for our loss.. we just weren't good enough.. Morison didnt deserve a yellow, he was through and got rugby tackled.. bellamy allsaw rugby tackled.. That number 2 player deserved to go off.. and the one who injured collins? very disappointed with the result.. were a better team than them! never should've lost.. Eardly should play left back next game against bulgaria instead of Sam Ricketts.

the ref was appauling, they should have been down to at least 9 men by the end of the 90mins but what dissapointed me was the fact we seemed to take it lying down and moan to the ref rather than give it back to them
also it could be argued that collins and morrison jumped with their arms quite a bit,not as crushingly as the lad who got collins taken out but still arms were being used
oh ps...im fully aware of the having to use an arm in the jump scenario

The ref was quite happy to let any Montenegran nonsense go whilst punishing ours. We should of course give it back, but when one side is being reffed to one set of rules and the other is playing by a different rule back you have to use your brain and keep emotion in check so as not to lose any men. Thats not us being weak- just crap reffing. I personally think Pekovics comments and Toshs response had an effect on the refs performance. Commenting on the conduct of your opponents should be outlawed before matches as it pressures referees.
