forest go up - does this mean earnie spends a season in the reserves? gunter though would surely remain in davies' plans.
cardiff go up - a chance for the club to be bought and a genuine legacy to be established? ledley to stay, possibly matthews.
swansea - i see swansea struggling if they were promoted. if they cant score in the champ, how on earth will they do it in the epl?

maybe worked out for the best for swansea; if sousa can get the money for one decent striker, they should be challenging for automatic promotion next season - especially given that portsmouth and hull are in complete dissaray, and burnley are hardly a powerhouse.

Cardiff need it the most. All four of the play-off teams have Welsh internationals, though, which means we'll have some more Premiership players next year, pity Myhill got relegated.

looking good for Cardiff - from what i saw, blake was excellent. seemed very good on the ball and in the air. ledley also seemed to be doing well.

pity Myhill got relegated. I think Myhill being relegated with Hull with actually alert Tosh to how poor Myhill is! Hennessey is a far better keeper than Myhill, but Wayne needs to move soon to start playing more first team football. It would be nice to see Earnie back in the premiership alogn with Gunter, but at this point in time the play off's are still so open. Blackpool could shock us all and go up!

Welsh football needs Cardiff to get promoted to the PL.
It will safeguard the academy and the conveyor belt of young talent coming through.
It would also boost the profile of Welsh football at club level (on the back of the World Cup) at the same time as our young guns at national level progress.
Hopefully Swansea can continue to challenge next year and Newport/Wrexham get back to the League.

I think Myhill is class and has arguably put in the best ever Prem performance against Spurs. He is being tipped for Aston Villas next signing so have to disagree there.

Disappointed Forest lost as I think Earnshaw and Gunter would have done well in the Prem. Let's hope Cardiff win tonight.

i was actually thinking the opposite.
i dont think earnie is a premiership player. and i certainly dont think billy davies would Trust him at that level.
i think another good season, with a strong team, in the champ will do more for gunter - as opposed to getting beat 2,3,4,5 every week in the prem.
i think cardiff will win tonight - and should, in theory, be too strong for blackpool.

As a Welsh and Cardiff fan, last night was a euphoric occasion at CCS. Never before had viewed a penalty shootout with such high stakes with a vested interest in a team playing (usually looking on with amusement as England lose another shootout).
Nothing achieved yet though - as Joe Ledley said - the next game is the biggest in the club's history. Everything crossed - will a welsh side actually achieve its goal? Huge game for welsh football - will have ripple affect down to grass roots level.

Good stuff for Cardiff. Let's hope they win the final - Blackpool's Welsh players (Vaughan and Edwards) are unlikely to figure in the Prem, whereas Ledley and Matthews could get a run of games for cardiff.

disappointing.
having said that, from the evidence of this game (and the match with leicester), Cardiff are totally inequipped, personel-wise and tactically, for the prem at this stage.
it will be an interesting summer for them.
wel done to blackpool though i suppose.

Of all the teams that could have gone up, Blackpool were the one I didn't want to see. Does anyone see Vaughan realistically getting in the side next year? I'd like to think he would, but realistically they'll probably sign some chap who does well at this year's World Cup on overinflated wages to take his place.
Shame for Cardiff, hope this doesn't affect them financially so that they go into admin.

Yeah, crap result. Blackpool going up gives us three welsh players sitting on the bench in the premiership, most likely. Saying that, Vaughan did play well in the holding midfield, especially first half. If he gets a regular game next season, he could do a job for us in that position.
I've got to disagree with you about Cardiff, though Trendy. No team going up is going to be fully equipped for the premiership, hence they all sign 5 or 6 players when they do. But Cardiff for me are one of the better equipped. Chopra, Bothroyd, Whittingham, and McPhail have all played in Prem, and some of them will be again next season, probably. Add in young talent Ledley, Mathews and Blake and they've got a good nucleus. Ok, they didnt do it on the day yesterday, but their usual style of play is much more Prem than traditional kick n rush lower league stuff. And I'm not a Cardiff fan saying that.
If D Jones stays, and they get some cash from the Malaysians, I reckon they'll go up auto next season.

yeah, i agree actually. probably a better way of saying what i meant would be:
they'll be better equipped to go up, and stay up, with one more season - possibly dominating - in the champ. fingers crossed jones gets some decent money.

Agree. With Cardiff right now it's precarious, innit. All rests on D Jones staying for me. Not like Swansea where they could get some continuity when Martinez left and Sousa came in. If D Jones leaves, I think the club will slide. If he stays, then there's a good chance of a tilt at the title next season, especially given the relatively weak sides coming down.
