Bradshaw seems to work really hard off the ball. Was impressed with him in his 3 apps to date.

I’d love him to go on and score 10+ by Christmas….but he won’t.
I’m surprised he’s still playing at Championship level to be honest.

He was lively and impressive against Ukraine in Kiev around 2016, one of his only appearances for us?
He can count himself unlucky not to be given the same opportunity Tyler Roberts has been given.

Excellent point. Steve Morison scored 1 goal in TWENTY caps, until Coleman had enough of his lazy performances. Tyler Roberts has scored 0 goals in EIGHTEEN caps. Iwan Roberts scored 0 goals in FIFTEEN caps. Simon Roberts scored 3 (one was a penalty) in THIRTY EIGHT caps. Bradshaw has only played in three? Did he even start in any? He's not been given a chance. If we can call up a Kieffer Moore out of obscurity and play him almost immediately, then we can give Bradshaw a chance. We've had so many friendlies where he's not been called up or featured and considering we've always had a drought in strikers, there's no excuse. It's been recently been evident, that Wales do not have an effective Plan B when we don't have Moore. So FFS, try something new. Just try!

The fact that we don’t call Bradshaw up has saved him from being one of the bad guys.
If we had spent the last few years calling up a lower championship striker who doesn’t always play and rarely scores there’d be almost unlimited criticism and accusations of him being ones of the favourites.
To add to that, if we had called him up ahead of a player who plays for Leeds most weeks in the Premier league there’d be riots in the streets of Apostleland.
As always, the stock of every player we don’t call up seems to rise the longer they aren’t in the squad.I can guarantee that, if they got selected, players like Bradshaw, Maxwell and Evans wouldn’t be getting the widespread praise they currently get. This would result the players who didn’t get in the squad getting the praise instead of them.

Sorry Welshrover, I meant Simon Church.
We could give Bradshaw a run of three games, mostly friendlies. If he's not up to the task, then bye bye.
But the numbers don't lie.
Not that I'm complaining, but Moore came on as a second half sub against Belarus in a friendly, didn't do anything spectacular, but then ended up in the first 11. After Moore, we don't have any other options, aside from Roberts who has scored zero goals in 18 games.

In terms of comparing him to others who looked half as good in a Wales shirt yet “earned” way more caps absolutely. For me, he really stood out against Ukraine if only for his movement which was a contrast to the static and immobile Church and Vokes and that’s why, for all the piss taking around the debate it felt to me like it was a legitimate question that needed asking: why was the guy who looked clearly the better player not given more of a chance? As it is, he might have good movement and link up play but his lack of goals at championship level has put him out of the picture now. It would really need something special from him to see him in a Wales shirt again.

This would result the players who didn’t get in the squad getting the praise instead of them. That’s part of the nature of football though- it’s not for nothing that the best place to be when your team is getting dicked 5-0 is on the bench. Look at the comments on here about Rodon when Spurs were losing every week- “thank God he’s not playing” etc. Reputations get enhanced based on imaginary performances. Saying that, I don’t think people are saying “we would have won the World Cup if Tom Bradshaw had won 5 caps” just complaining that we haven’t looked at players who perhaps deserved to be given a chance. We’ll be waiting til the sun burns out for a goal from Roberts, instead of giving him caps as a striker (which he isn’t) why not, y’know, do something radical like pick an actual striker and see what happens? Look at what happened with Moore- it was the opposite of what you are saying- there was lots of laughter about him being a donkey and not up to Wales standard and yet he quickly went about silencing the nay sayers. He needed to be given a chance in the first place though, a luxury not afforded to everyone.

The frustrating thing is that this is not good enough from the FAW, and it's always been the case too.
If it's too late for Bradshaw, then it's too late. But he should've been given a proper chance 5/6 years ago. For a nation of 3 million, we simply can't afford to pass over players. It's been exactly the same case with Doidge.
If we have a player who is doing reasonably well, at any level, we should be at least putting them in a camp.
Back in the days when Wales were dog shit, why weren't the likes of Eifion Williams and Mike Flynn called up? What was there to lose? The non/lower-league level argument doesn't cut it any more if these days we're more than happy to call up unknowns such as Kieffer and Sorba.
Again, we're a nation of 3 million and we don't have a huge pool of players.
Also, you just don't know who players can become. Ashley Williams was playing non-league and became our leader. Bale was a scrawny kid, playing LB in the Championship and he ended up on the front cover of FIFA.
International football can sometimes raise a player's profile and boost their chances of moving to a bigger club. Then they can improve. I appreciate Bradshaw is probably not going to do that, but if he was given a chance with Wales and started banging in goals, then who knows what could've happen.
It's not always going to work. In fact, most times it won't, but if players are not given a fair chance then we'll never know.

It would really need something special from him to see him in a Wales shirt again. When someone said that the Church v Bradshaw debate would recommence, I assumed it was said in jest Turns out all was needed was for him to score his first goal of the season (probably first in about 20 odd games). I don't agree with foxmulder on this (shock), I don't think a valid comparison can be made with Moore. I disagree with the comments about Moore's performance on his debut, I think we were all quite impressed at the time, and his immediate impact thereafter was phenomenal. But that doesn't mean we should start testing every eligible player who are playing half decent in League 1, or championship players that are barely playing. Moore was a late bloomer and on an upward trajectory, like Vardy and Antonio (though not to the same level of course), whereas Bradshaw's been stagnating and clearly isn't quite good enough for the championship. He's on a similar level to Harris, he might offer a slightly better goal threat (might be one in 6 rather than one in 8), although Harris has a really good nuisance factor and makes very good runs. I thought at the time, and think even more now, that the reaction to Bradshaw's debut was hugely overstated. He didn't do much, but because of his lack of opportunities since it's been made out to be something more. Also disagree with you about Simon Church insertname - you can rightly criticise him as a fairly mediocre forward who had a very poor goal return, but the one thing he was good at was running the channels.

I’m talking about the time when he was making a good case for inclusion, it’s clearly obvious that his chances of further caps have now gone unless he were to score shed loads of goals but that’s not likely to happen. I did say upthread that it’s somewhat surprising that he was still at championship level, maybe he is still a valued squad member and gets games based on his overall contribution this days? Iirc people thought Moore was an English donkey until he won his first cap and won people over. I certainly didn’t, I was all for it because I felt we needed to have a loot at him and as it turned out he repaid the faith shown in him by Giggs throwing him in at the first opportunity. I agree that that shouldn’t open floodgates, like capping the likes of that lad at Wimbledon just for the crack, but for problem positions, which striker most certainly is for us, we have to have a bit more of an open mind. Thankfully Giggs has had a bit more of a progressive attitude to bringing in new players. I’m not sure there is much of an obvious rationale with regards to who gets called up by Page. There seems to be a mix of new players in form whilst still persisting with some others who could be seen to be “favourites”, particularly Roberts. If the Bradshaw of 2015/16 was around today I’d be calling for him to be given a chance as opposed to the dreadful Roberts who just isn’t a striker yet has had more opportunities there than has deserved them. We will have to agree to disagree on Church, bang average player and really shouldn’t have won as many caps as he did. Again, it felt a bit Page like, a refusal by Coleman to look further than the end of his nose for players. It felt like he had certain positions covered by known quantities who he trusted but were low on quality. Church imo never really fulfilled the potential that seemed to be on the cards during the under 21 campaign that ended in narrow defeat against England. Never an international class striker in a million years.

This will happen every few months until Bradshaw retires.

In an era where finding a good Welsh striker is rarer than rocking horse shit, it wouldn't have hurt to give Bradshaw - a striker, more chances. We have been more than generous with chances for other less deserving members of the squad, past and present.

Moore started against Belarus and this was the first time we'd played with an orthodox striker in a while, coming off the back of a poor performance against Azerbaijan where Tom Lawrence started up top as a false 9. Moore's impact was immediate, in that friendly he was a focal point where we were able to be more direct than we had been, and got our other attackers (Jonny & James notably) onto the ball in the right areas. For this reason I don't think this is the best example I was for more opportunities for Bradshaw back in the day as I felt his movement in the box was something different. Now I feel we have more data on what he's like in the Championship & I don't think he's a great option anymore. Would rather have Harris as others have mentioned, he could actually improve as well

The only impressive thing from him was the interview after the game and was how pleased he was to win a cap for his country. My recollection was that he didn’t see a lot of the ball but he was tidy in terms of his link up play and, crucially, that he was always finding space off the ball, an ability that even the great Gareth Bale has lacked when he has played up front. There was enough promise there to have deserved a start in the next friendly. He probably suffered from a confluence of a number of things: getting his chance in the last 20 minutes of a pre Euros friendly for a squad he was never going to be a part of, Coleman’s loyalty to certain players, the team generally going well etc. He probably would have got a proper chance if he was around during some of the more leaner years rather than during the time when we qualified for our first tournament and were enjoying previously unparalleled success.

We also need to remember that Bradshaw was injured for the Euros tournament so couldn’t have played even if he was called up (though I admit I don’t think he would have been picked)

But like you say, probably wouldn’t have been involved if only because it’s an odd time to bring in a player to a close knit group at the expense of someone else. Only two friendlies and even then just 20 minutes at the end of the second game suggests that Coleman didn’t rate him.
