10 started over the weekend - including Ledley at Celtic
Eardley J.Collins Gabbidon Ricketts D. Collins
Davies Edwards Vaughan Ledley Bale
Giggs
Is this demonstrable of the luck Toshack had, and hopefully the luck that Flynn will have.
Giggs injured and probably won't come back. But hopefully Flynn can get Davies and Danny Collins back.
It will be the basis of a strong squad with Bellamy, Williams Ramsey & Collison who would walk into the team. And Morrison & Gunter almost certainties.
The more we have playing in the Premiership, the more chance of success. This is what dogged Toshack's 6 year tenure.

We have a decent squad now. No worse than Montenegro or Bulgaria. Irrespective of the level they play at (Bellamy is hardly a 'Championship player') the players themselves are good so we should achieve a solid third or fourth in this group at minimum.

We are much better all of a sudden, all depends on club managers from this point, putting pressure on our best players not to turn up.

We have one active Champions' League player, Bale, admittedly. But it's irrelevant to ask 'how many CL players do you have?' and use that to judge player quality. I'm sure it would have to be agreed that playing for Partizan Belgrade may make you a CL player, but in terms of week-to-week standard is not better than playing for Bolton Wanderers.

We had 5 defenders start in the premiership this weekend- J Collins, Gabbidon, Eardley, Ricketts and D Collins. Only 2 - Gabbs and J Collins would be the only ones in my first choice line up at this point in time though. Gunter and Williams have been so consistently good for club and country that neither deserve to lose their places.

Actually Bale played LB Saturday too. So make that 6 Welsh defenders who started in the prem at the weekend. I'd still have Gunter and Williams in the team though.
