Great stuff many thanks From the discussion - if we can stop them from scoring we have a real chance of taking all 3 points. Their defence is an obvious problem area to them I think if you could make up some sort of rating system from one to 10, I would say we have a 6/7 defence, 7 midfield and maybe a 7 attack if bale is in there. I don't think they can boast such a consistent team. From what I've heard I would say they have a 5 defence, 6 midfield and a 7 attack. I know that's a very strange way of describing my thoughts on the game but it gets my point across also I think. Would you agree with that? Raphael was very frank in describing their defence as very average. It lacks pace and by the sounds of it they will try to press us high up the pitch and keep a high tempo. I can see Joe Allen being absolutely key for us in neutering this looking to set up quick counter attacks. Shame George Williams won't be fit

Excellent podcast mate. Really filled the gaps in for me and I'm sure it will for everyone else. I would be lying if I said I'm not a bit more anxious after hearing that their forwards are in great form. I think based on what I just heard, I would take a draw against them and hope Belgium beat them. 5 star Llannerch Cheers!! Glad you like it

Another podcast available at the website or via iTunes. Different format to usual. Due to Easter hols it's just me talking via Skype with Raphael Gellar, who by now is surely familiar to all on here. Spoiler alert: he is very complimentary about the Welsh fans who travelled to Israel Link: www.podcastpeldroed.co.uk/looking-back-at-israel-0-3-wales-with-raphael-gellar/The blog goes live this Wednesday as well.

Great blogs; well written and researched. Nice to see that Earnie is getting some respect for the work that he put in. Which makes me think; perhaps that is the topic for another blog - a compare and contrast between the players that gave everything for their country (Earnshaw, Carl Robinson etc) and those, well frankly didn't?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm particularly grateful to someone of this parish who reminded me of Earnie's sub appearance in Serbia which I had completely erased from memory. I like your suggestion: a Triers XI vs a Coulda-been-a-contenders XI? I'll decline the offer to write it as I fear I may have to be critical of Jason Koumas which I find it very difficult to do #unconditionallove

New blog is up at the website debating the best ever Wales goals. It was inspired by the recent 30th anniversary of Sparky's volley against Spain. Take a look and feel free to agree or disagree and leave your own lists in the comments section. Also, to mark the podcast's first birthday at the end of June there will be a fiendishly difficult quiz with questions about the Wales team, history, players, matches, records, etc. More details closer to the date.

Good list, but there's not much love for Savage's spectacular 30-yard volley against Norway in 2001, probably owing to the lack of any youtube footage of it. Which is a shame because although the one he got against Turkey gets (rightly) talked about a lot I remember this one being better.

From memory the Turkey goal, for me, shades it because the follow-through sees both Savage's feet leave the ground. Real old school, give it a whack. I've omitted John Robinson's goal against Belarus which I already regret, but then that's the nature of such lists I suppose. (sorry for belatedly replying too)

New blog as well inspired by Ashley Williams' recent 50th cap in only the 57th international played since his debut. How do our other current players fare in comparison with such consistency, dedication, durability, discipline and luck with injuries? www.podcastpeldroed.co.uk/wales-players-caps-to-games-ratios/

Always enjoy these, there was definitely a gap in the podcast market, nice one Cheers pengedragon! Appreciate the feedback. Recording another one tonight, this time in conversation with John Chapman (@belgofoot), an English journalist who writes about Belgian football, domestic and international. He has a good blog (also called Belgofoot) too that has some interesting articles on it, e.g., whether Hazard and De Bruyne can play together (a la Lampard and Rooney). Should be available as a podcast in the next day or two
