This gets more and more weird. Earnshaw is replaced by a central midfielder who is not even on the bench for a League One team. If there is a need for a central midfielder why not Crofts or Dorman. The most obvious need is for someone wide on the right. Arron Davies apparently had a decent game yesterday. This is not the time for having a look at youngsters, leave that till the Carling Nations Cup.

Agreed, how is Doble ready for senior international football when he hasnt made any senior league appearances and only recently made his first under 21 appearance? Its not likely he will be needed on the pitch, but even so as you say Dorman and Crofts make far more sense as they are playing first team championship football. . Hell, even Savage is. And then of course you have to wonder why we call up a midfielder for a striker. Lack of striking options no doubt but surely it makes more sense to call up a striker from the under 21s than a midfielder where there are better alternatives. Still though, its this sort of unpredictable approach that has got results with the under 21s so if anyone can pull off some surprises its Flynn. Ive got the same feeling as when the Wales rugby team were written off when Gatland took over and went to Twickenham and won against the odds. It seems so unlikely that I reckon Flynn is going to pull off a couple of results here.

I'm guessing that I'm the only person here who has seen him play?
Sutton United v Southampton in a pre-season friendly, he played 70 minutes having come on as a sub after 20 minutes and looked OK. I didn't know he was Welsh at the time though!

All most fans know is the ability of those with the most media coverage- and that is not a rationale basis for selection. All I can say is he looks naturally gifted- alot more so than Crofts- and he should know said players well enough to make that judgement, which is why he has been selected as interim manager. No manager is perfect, nor will he echo the sentiments of every fan. Those that thought ditching a manager with top level experience and achievement would mean instant and complete success are wrong- the problems are broadly the same- we still exist in a period of relative transition, but on the whole, the majority of shots have been taken by Tosh. Flynn has some freedom as a consequence, and the fact he has chosen Doble over Crofts is in the broader scheme of things VERY minor- he can be successful. However, he will not wish to appear a doormat to league managers, otherwise he will just be the extreme "Mr Nice" to Tosh's "Mr Nasty" and we could end up in the same place.

Born in Tooting, grew up in Sutton in a house that backed onto Sutton United's ground. My Welsh heritage comes from my dads side of the family so it's very much a case of land of my fathers for me. Naturally I've suffered merciless ribbing for "choosing Wales" from pretty much everybody for most of my life but there's no English heritage in my family and I feel no real attachment to England as a country although I reserve my hatred towards England for their moronic sports fans. Sadly for Wales and myself, I'm not an exceptionally talented centre forward

Dobles selection has nothing to do with Crofts or Dorman not being picked. He's been picked cos he can play as a striker as well as in midfield. He could have picked Cotterill as he operates the same but has gone for a player he must rate highly.

Eardley and Stock now out...
Assuming there won't be anymore injuries and retirements before Friday, I'd go with the following:
Hennessey
Ricketts Williams (c) J Collins D Collins
Edwards King Ledley Bale
Morison Church
Subs - Myhill, Gunter, Ribeiro, Allen, Vaughan, Evans, Robson-Kanu
Despite everything, keep the faith....

Has Kanu recovered from his injury? If so put him on the right instead of Edwards, replace Church with Vaughan. Keep Church and Evans for the second half. Is Ledley really fit enough? I would think that Allen is pressing for his place.

Sorry medibot- I've seen him play too... apparently. According to the FAW site he came on at half time in the u21 friendly v Austria a few months back. Can't say I remember anything about him though. The players who stood out a mile for me that game were Ribiero, Robson- Kanu and Neil Taylor.
