Amiens for England game

Anyone else booked here, 6 of us stopping here, still decent price hotels available, hopefully not as full of England as Lens or Lille, nice city with plenty of bars etc. Abt hr an half by train (inc 40 mins wait in Arras) 27 euros return to Lens.

Seems worth a go if want to miss obvious an Paris!!!

I'm staying there and there is a few in a camp site there I believe, so about 15-20 so far.

Amiens is a lovely town, as indeed is all the region. We did have a holiday there some 20 yrs ago, and if anyone has time on non football days, you can do worse than visit the various battlefield sites from WW1 where the trenches have been preserved. Places like the Y Ravine, the German front line, and the various memorials for different nations including the huge British Memorial at Thiepval which has 3 million names engraved on it. There used to be a well signposted 'Battlefield Tour' which would take an afternoon. Well worth doing and very moving. There is also Armistece Coach near the village of the same name, where the train carriage in no man's land is now a museum with figures of the German and Allied leaders sat around the table signing the agreement that ended the war. I remember thinking when we were there that everyone would benefit from seeing those sights.

We stayed in a campsite in the area in a static caravan at the time with Eurocamp incidentally, are they still going?

If its any use to someone, the official Youth hostel in Lille still has 22 beds left in 3 and 4-bed rooms.
Its 24 euro including breakfast - about a mile south of the two main stations. About 500m south-east of the old town. The hostel is brand new. Only opened in October 2015.
