Has joined Bath City from Cardiff Corinthians.
This guy was a talent wasn't he?
Played about 15 minutes for Newport County showing fabulous technique and the fitness of Hattie Jacques. This was a good 5 or 6 years ago.
Kicked out of the club for the next game.

The students have got more money in bath than newport. He can probably shift gear easier there!

Someone suggested to me he had a learning disability during his brief stay at Newport. I never talked to him to gauge that opinion so who knows?

he could have been a lot better than a lower league pro welshiron. I remember one of his former coaches describing him as a footballing genius. If only he'd been as addicted to football as has been to cocaine...

A learning disabilty really? You hear quite a bit about mental health issues in modern day sport but not about learning difficulties. The very nature of such a problem will mostly prevent such individuals from becoming professional sportsmen/women. However just because he couldnt read or write doesnt mean he did have a learning disability. Scott quinell learnt to read and write at 31 after retiring from rugby

Scott quinell learnt to read and write at 31 after retiring from rugby I didn't say he had LD, I said it was mentioned to me he had LD by someone who worked for the club. This guy wasn't a health professional BTW. Never under estimate people with LD though, they can do remarkable things and I'm not talking about Autistic savants (Rain Man), who BTW don't have LD.

I would never under estimate anyone with any disability. I have worked in support services for many years, I was just surprised to hear an ex professional footballer may have a learning disability. Also Autistic Savants are quite rare and a high percentage of people on the autistic spectrum do have also have a learning disability

I cant fathom how he suddenly has a trial with a club on the up like Brighton.
Ah well, good luck to him. If he could at least reach mediocrity then he will force his way past Jermaine Easter in the pecking order!

It's come about 10 years too late, but it will show how important natural talent is in football if he makes it. The amount of chances at a pro career that guy's squandered, and yet he could still make it. Unreal.

RD - apparantly Bellamy and Peter Crouch put in good words for him with Poyet. Apparantly Crouch wrote something in his book about how he's the most naturally gifted footballer he's ever played with (they were at QPR together as kids)

In that case Ive changed my mind somewhat, what a dickhead that guy is then. Considering Peter Crouch has played alongside the likes of Gerrard that really tells you something about how good he could have been- at a time when we have had a dearth of quality players available to us. Its criminal to see talent of that magnitude pissed up against the wall. To be honest I wouldnt call getting a break at 30 "making it". He will have 4 seasons at most, I daresay his excess off the pitch will have an impact on his longevity on the football pitch.

i was talking to a former wales under 14's coach like a year ago
he leon had more potential than anyone to ever play on a pitch anywere in the world, apparantly he took his wales under 14 kits (or under 15's ,13's whatever you get the jist) and flogged them down splott market!

Well, that's the kind of thing drug addicts do ljd90... if he really has got himself clean by the age of 30 then he just might, MIGHT have a chance. I'm really hoping the best for the lad.

Perhaps Speed should ring this guy up and invite him to our next few games. Give him a thirst and a real incentive.

it is odd but could you imagine if he made it. really be an incredible story. llanelli's rhys griffiths should have a trial with everton next and rhyl's matthew williams should go back to manchester united oh and also former porthmadog defender and now wwe wrestler mason ryan aka barri griffiths should go to real madrid by the way that mason ryan thing is incredibly true
