Okay so he isn't going to threaten to get on the pitch for the seniors ever, but I still wanted to pay tribute to the guy in the wake of Bristol Rovers winning promotion.
He turned up as a free agent on the first day of training asking for a trial. It took a while for him to actually be given a contract and he has totally repaid the faith shown in him. He has scored around 15 goals from a wing forward position including an absolute gem yesterday to get rovers back on track at a crucial time.
All that from a free signing. Fair fucks to the guy.

If anyone is interested they have four welsh player interviews on the Bristol Rovers website today. It's called 'Freeview Friday' I believe and the following have around 4:30 on camera:
Billy Bodin Jermaine Easter Tom Lockyer Ellis Harrison
I think they are old but still worth a watch to get to more acquainted with the two youngsters.

For a free signing, getting 10+ goals in league two and league one in consecutive seasons is good going. The quality of the goals has to be stressed too. Anything but 5 yard tap ins. I really don't think we will see him in a Welsh shirt ever, but as a Rovers fan it is great to see a free signing make that sort of impact.

I was sat next to a Britstol Rovers fan on my flight the other week and he said Bodin will be at a championship club next season, he rated him very highly.

13 goals in 28 starts is good going. And to make our #toshfan happy, only two yellows all season ;-)

Billy boy carrying on his fine form from the end of last season with another two goals today. Could we see a transfer up a division by the end of the transfer window? Let's see how he gets on next week.

Grabbed a consolation in a 3-1 loss at Bradford
Nice to see we have plenty of options in attacking positions

Bristol Rovers star Billy Bodin attracting interest ahead of January transfer windowwww.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-rovers-star-billy-bodin-879692Billy Bodin is attracting interest from a number of clubs ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, The Bristol Post understands. The attacker is Bristol Rovers' most creative player, and despite missing six weeks of the season with injury, has been the star man for the Gas this campaign - topping the goal scoring charts. Bodin, who initially signed for Rovers on non-contract terms in July 2015, missed a number of matches during October and November as he recovered from a hamstring injury. But the Welshman has returned to the side for Rovers' last three matches and appears to have retained his fine form. Bodin signed a two-year deal with Rovers in June 2016, meaning his current deal runs out at the end of this season. Rovers chairman Steve Hamer confirmed last month that Bodin was currently mulling over a new deal, one which the chairman believes would make him the best paid player at the club. If no new deal can be reached between Rovers and Bodin, then the player is free to talk to other clubs within six months of his contract expiring with a view to moving on a free transfer in the summer. Rovers chairman Steve Hamer confirmed earlier this season that Rovers had rejected a bid for Bodin in the summer. A bid which Hamer described as 'derisory' and 'tongue in cheek.' Bodin has scored nine goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for Rovers this season and is continuing to attract interest from a number of clubs, including those in the Championship. While Rovers boss Darrell Clarke has confirmed he will freshen up his squad this January, with one or two players leaving the club and three or four hopefully joining, Bodin is not one of those Rovers will want to lose. The Rovers manager also confirmed the club have been negotiating with Bodin for almost a year to get him signed on to a new deal, but have been unsuccessful so far. Hamer has said an offer for a new contract was made to Bodin four weeks ago, with the forward still deliberating on his decision. Bodin himself has also spoken out about his contract situation in recent weeks, simply saying he'll have to wait and see and that he wanted to just concentrate on getting back fit first. If Bodin cannot be tied down to a new contract, Rovers will face the agonising decision of whether to cash in on Bodin's worth next month or hold fire and risk losing him on a free in the summer. The Rovers chairman confirmed last month that if Bodin was to leave the club in January, then he would expect Clarke to be given the money from his sale to fund a replacment. Steve Hamer on Bodin's contract - speaking on November 23.Billy has been offered an improved contract, an extended one. He is deliberating. The offer was made in the last four weeks or maybe before that. I think it would be the best contract at the Mem - Billy is a match-winner and a bit of quality that we have missed. Billy Bodin on his contract situation - speaking on November 30.We've got to wait and see really. I wanted to get back fit first before I decide anything, hopefully we'll sort something. I've never really had this apart from when I was young at Swindon, it's nice to be wanted and have the fans on your side.

Great article. 9 goals in 18 is a decent return He'll be a championship player next month I reckon and that bet with his dad won't look as far away as it was. But he'll have to play against China if he's to do it before he's 26 as his birthday is two days later. We could do with Storm's input on the Harrison / Bodin threads...

But he'll have to play against China if he's to do it before he's 26 as his birthday is two days later. We could do with Storm's input on the Harrison / Bodin threads...Go on then, seeing as you asked.... I obviously hope Bodin stays at Rovers at least til the end of the season. We could be in deep trouble if he leaves. He has been offered a much improved contract but all the talk coming out of the club is that we can't even begin to compete with championship clubs in terms of money (and facilities for that matter). He used to be the type of player that is quite anonymous but then pops up with a goal, quite impressive for a left footed right winger in and of itself. Today however he was described by the commentator as unplayable, the word 'masterclass' was even used. If he can continue to impose himself on games then he might be in danger of meriting a call up when a move to the championship eventually materialises. He is in a good spot in that respect as I absolutely think post-Coleman Wales needs to start playing with wingers, we should have been doing so last campaign at times, but currently I would want those wingers to be Hedges and Watkins (I could rant all day about my annoyance at Coleman for not giving thse guys a chance in WC qualifiers after their display against Panama but thats a story for another day! ). Harrison has had quite a torturous Rovers career but over the last season or two he has really started to knuckle down and prove he has the right attitude. In contrast to Bodin Harrison is very visible. Had a few MOTM performances recently and is usually the hardest working player on the pitch. Crucially he has started scoring a bit more regularly, including some very tidy goals. Perhaps has more of a chance with Wales than Bodin due to his age but is not looking like an international in waiting at the moment. The verdict is unanimous that Bodin is a championship player however Harrison's level is perhaps at a league one promotion chasing side. Here is Harrison's goal today: streamable.com/chmk6As it's Christmas I'll even throw in a round up of other Welsh players involved in Rovers season: Tom Lockyer- I'll be blunt, Rovers fans were delighted that he got called up for Panama as it meant we got a game off from his constant mistakes this season that have directly lead to goals. Whilst I've noticed a lot of respect for Wales since Euro 2016 there was still much mirth that a player in such poor form can warrant a call up. Makes me wonder whether Coleman ever actually watched him play? His replacement has been Rollin menayese, another Welsh qualified player who has put in better (very impressive in fact) performances than Lockyer although his young age means he is used sparingly and the manager is reluctant to play him every week no matter how mature his performances so Lockyer continues to be an automatic pick when not away with Wales. Lockyer was once touted as a championship player with Leeds in particular interested so his decline this season has been dramatic. But he has improved in recent weeks as the defence as a whole has solidified. Most likely helped by the emergence of a capable holding midfielder. Rhys Kavanagh, bought from newport for Rovers development squad- scored 6 in the first half(!) In a recent development game. A name to bear in mind for the future, hopefully. Lastly, I notice a full back we bought from Eastleigh, Joe Partington, is shown on Wikipedia as being Welsh. He has just been moved into the aforementioned defensive midfield position and is earning rave reviews and being held largely responsible for our turn around in form recently (quite a feat as we were shipping goals for fun, since Partington has been in midfield it is like a different team). So another one to keep an eye on perhaps....

Not worth thinking about until he does it at a higher level
Don't think he will ever get a cap

Preston have just bought Louis Moult, wouldn't want to see him go there. They don't have a great set of players on the wings though. Fans don't rate Callum Robinson or Maguire, Horgan is average. Thought Moult was more of a striker anyway? Preston will be hoping Bodin can be a replacement for McGeady last season.
