How is everyone getting to Bordeaux? Myself, I'm flying from Bristol to Nantes on the 9th, then getting the train from Nantes to Bordeaux on the 10th (five hours on the TGV for only £16 - bargain!!). Anyone else on either of these journeys? I'm travelling solo until Toulouse.

Leaving preston at 7am on the friday for euston then onto st pancreas for the eurostar which gets us into paris at 1ish then a walk to the another paris station for the tgv which gets us into bordeaux for around 6.30 You wont walk from Gard du Nord to Montparnasse. Just check you've enough time for the transfers and don't forget the hour difference. Seems very tight to me. I'm doing st Pancras to Bordeaux the following morning. A little concerned I've left no time for problems. Don't forget security could make getting on and off trains more time consuming.

Gare du Nord ▶ Gare Montparnasse Walk off the Eurostar platform, turn left, and follow the signs for Metro line M4. Take metro line M4 direct to Montparnasse Bienvenue (follow signs 'M4 direction Mairie de Montrouge'). In contrast to other Paris mainline stations, where the metro platforms are more or less directly underneath the mainline platforms, at Montparnasse it's a 700 metre (750 yard) underground walk from the metro station to the mainline TGV platforms through broad well-lit well-signed subways, with moving walkways for the long bits. Allow plenty of time for the transfer, and if you're not good with longish walks with luggage (even with the moving walkways), consider taking a taxi from Paris Nord to the Gare Montparnasse. That is the advice of the Train Guru at www.seat61.com/Paris-metro.htm - not my own...

Don't forget to buy your Metro tickets on the Eurostar. I've spent 20 minutes waiting for a ticket machine before. I went with a 2.5 hour transfer, the alternative being a 45 minute transfer being a little too tight. I might try and blag my way on to that train if I get there in time though.
