Give the ticket office a ring and ask for Lucy or Matt. They tend to stay near enough to the stadium - perhaps the Hilton, which is about a mile away, on the banks of the river?

Hi Guys, I had the big pleasure to spend a wonderful time with some of you in Bordeaux and Paris - singing our "Immer wieder Österreich" and the wonderful DON'T TAKE ME HOME We are looking forward to see you in Vienna. @ Teamhotel: I also think, that your team will stay in the Hilton next to the Happel-Stadium (because many teams do that). @ Pubs: I would recommend my favourite Pub in the city center (near the Stephansdom) www.flanagans.at/html/start/0.htmlOr this one www.charlieps.at. Not in the center, but a realy good one www.stags-head.at -> it's opposite to the most beautiful stadium in the world, the home of my Rapid Vienna ^^ On matchday in the famous "Prater"-Area (good distance for a walk to the stadium) a realy good restaurant with typical austrian food www.restaurantzumenglischenreiter.atIf you have any question, I'll do my best to answer them Best Regards from Austria.

I hope they don't stay at that Hilton on the river. I stayed there once last year. It's right next to a railway line with heavy noisy freight trains going by all night. I got bugger all sleep!

Vielen Dank Mr. redwhite. That restaurant looks great. We're staying in the Josefsgasse. Any nice traditional Austrian restaurants around there?

Both those restaurants have gorgeous sounding menus! I love your city already ;-) Can you recommend a savory breakfast place in the Tabor strasse area? Omlettes, eggs, cheese meat etc. My hotel is without breakfast, and I don't fancy cakes for breakfast (which I understand is the Wienese way?). Thanks!

manulike: Haha that's true, some Austrian love cakes, jam and other sweet stuff in the morning. But many restaurants, pubs, coffee houses,... offer also ham/eggs or a plate with rolls, ham, cheese,... At the moment, I have no special hint for you, sorry. But I will ask some of my mates. If they know something, I will let you know ;-) In the uk it is much easier, I love your "healthy" breakfast (Sausages, Eggs, Baked Beans,...)

For drinking on the day of the match in particular (or at any time) there's a British Sports bar called "The Tube Station" which is situated directly opposite the tram stop "Löwengasse" on tramline 1. It is only two stops from there to the end of the line...Prater Hauptalle, and from there a 10 minutes walk to the Ernst Happel Stadion, so a good pit stop prior to the game, or even immediately afterwards. The address is Löwengasse 51, in Vienna's third district, so also pretty central. It normally opens in the afternoon, but for the Austria/Wales game will open at 11.30am with Welsh supporters being made to feel particularly welcome. www.thetubestation.at

I've stayed thee before when I've been working in Vienna. It's a decent hotel and you can go for a nice morning run along the Danube to blow away the hangover if you like. It's very close to the stadium, but there's bugger all around there in terms of boozers and the like. There is a U-Bahn station not far away though that'll get you into town easily. The downer with it when I stayed was the noise though, bloody great freight trains going past in the middle of the night making a right racket! I've opted for the more central Hilton this time.

This week I have found out I have to move house in 2 weeks, I have failed a driving test and it looks like my dog has to have his eye removed later today. It's not been the best week. Then my tickets turned up this morning and made me realise that I really need this holiday!
Anyone in Brno on the Wednesday night? I'm thinking I might need a few beers!

I got back from the group stages on the Weds before N Ireland, and was due to move house on the Friday 9 days later, only to get an e-mail asking if we could bring it forward to Mon/Tues, Flew out to Paris for N Ireland game Sat am and back sun am, moved house Monday and Tuesday and headed back for the quarter final (what a stroke of luck)
