So Eric Cantona says England won't qualify for Euro 2012. Is he basing this simply on a poor World Cup with ageing players, or with a more in depth look at who is actually in their group! First option I reckon, because on paper they should fly through the group! Maybe he is backing us

i think he just wants a bit of attention.
this is a very easy group for them - but that's not to say we can't get at least one result against them.

There was always the danger of us building ourselves up on the back of a poor world cup for England and I think we are getting worked up over nothing.
Experience tells us that England usually produce the goods in qualifying and they have a habit of bouncing back when public opinion is at its lowest. Remember how they really thought we would beat them at Old Trafford, in the aftermath of Neville-gate where Gary Neville was prepared to lead the England squad out on strike over appearance money? 606 was full of England callers in the build-up telling everyone how much national pride we had and how up for it we were gonna be against the England players who cared more about money. In the end it was only England who showed any pride that day- we caught the fat end of the backlash.
So with history in mind I would still expect them to walk our group. Our only real chance may be if they do decide to go with youth as some of the names mentioned for call-ups for the Hungary match are uninspiring to say the least. I would give us an outside chance if we line up against them in March and there is no Gerrard/Lampard/Terry/Ferdinand. I doubt they are that daft to throw the baby out with the bathwater though.

Yeah, there were games last season in the prem where Bale and Bellamy gave Terry and Ferdinand a torrid time. And England's soon to be no1 keeper might be a bit wary of Rambo shooting from distance... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pki069juAH8

When Church scored a few minutes later and ran head first into us I was in heaven! ;D

just thinking about the Church goal and the subsequent chant of '2-1 to the sheepshaggers!' sends shivers down my spine even now.
Hopefully we'll go one better this time. How crazy would it be to actually top 2 qualifying groups in a row, and still not qualify?!
