How come the TNS game was'nt on tv last night? A historic 4-0 win in Europe and we dont even get the chance to see it in our own country. We will also end up missing the Bangor game tomorrow. I remember when they used to show WPL teams in Europe, so what has happened?

They showed Llanelli v Motherwell on S4C last year, pity Llanelli couldn't hold on to their first-leg advantage.
I'd say there's a very good chance of the game against Anderlecht being shown. Disappointing the Bohemians game wasn't on TV but BBC radio Shropshire did a live feed which I listened to.

Its not only the lack of WPL european matches on TV. The U21 game against Italy at home wasn't on anywhere in the UK either. Between this, and the (South ) Wales print media's pathetic coverage of Welsh international football, I doubt there's any other nation on Earth whose media treats its national football team and national football league with such contempt.

Unbelievable!!! Bangor have just beaten Honka in the Europ league and the only way I could follow it was via live text from the UEFA website. Welsh media- hang your heads in shame.

Surely it would'nt have cost too much to take a few camera's to the Bangor match. And now we have to lost evidence of two historical matches in a week. Im not suprised there is so much apathy around the national team and the WPL when even the media cant be bothered. Maybe the FAW should start promoting things a bit better to the media, but it looks like they cant be bothered aswell.

Welsh media- hang your heads in shame. Get used to it ff...since BBC Wales isn't interested, it leaves S4C as the only player and today's news: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-10739166doesn't suggest it will get any better.

Well, I'll probably get accused of having a chip on my shoulder again, but I doubt if S4C will be significantly cutting the budget for their rugby coverage any time soon...

I emailed BBC Wales about it and this is the reply I got. Thing is I thought the BBC was a non profit making organisation and this just sticks the boot in. Dear Mr Atkinson, Many thanks for contacting BBC Wales. Although we did not send cameras to the games, as you mention, we have featured both clubs' results on our television programmes, and have extensively covered the progress of TNS and Bangor City, together with the defeats suffered by Port Talbot Town and Llanelli on our radio and Online services throughout their campaigns, and will continue to do so. Ultimately, the television rights for the latter stages of the competitions are held by other broadcasters: Sky and ITV in the case of the UEFA Champions League, and Five with the UEFA Europa League. Whilst supporters of these clubs would be interested, it is difficult to justify investing in television coverage of the early games in these tournaments when we would not be guaranteed to follow the progress of the clubs through to their conclusion and nor would we attract a substantial enough audience to justify the expenditure. I hope this clarifies the situation. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for your interest. Yours sincerely, Peredur A Jones BBC Information Wales 03703 500 700 mailto:feedback.wales@bbc.co.uk BBC Wales www.bbc.co.uk/wales

I wonder what's on ITV 2, 3 and 4 tonight?!!
It is poor but unfortunately we seem to be trapped in a football poverty cycle. But we are a nation of 3 million people (5% of UK) and this is just another kick in the teeth for us - the TV cameras would attract more sponsorship revenue etc - maybe a letter to ITV next?

Just got a reply off ITV and they said that the TNS game was'nt made available to them which is total b.s. They would rather show people getting chased by the police or Peter Andre crying. I got a decent reply off S4C though, at least they did'nt patronise me like ITV.
Dear George, Thank you for contacting us regarding the Welsh Premier teams' European matches. The success of the New Saints and Bangor City in the Champions League and Europa League are indeed a source of great pride for Wales. We hope that our investment in the Welsh Premier League via our broadcasts of the Sgorio football series has contributed to the development of the teams and their ability to compete with the best in Europe. S4C had considered tendering for the broadcast rights to the New Saints v Anderlecht and the Bangor v CS Maritimo matches. Unfortunately the dates and times of the matches meant too many changes to the schedule during the busy period around the National Eisteddfod. S4C sincerely hope that both teams are able to progress in the competitions and that may enable us to look afresh at the possibilities if they play further matches in the competitions. S4C as a channel supports Welsh football to the hilt and we are set to announce a fuller and enhanced coverage for the coming season. Yours sincerely, Trefor Glyn Gwifren Gwylwyr S4C S4C Viewers Hotline

Why don't you actually go to the game?? There were plenty of tickets left. If the game was a sell-out there'd be more reason to get the cameras up there. If the fans won't go to the game itself, why bother filming??

Because I had a match that evening and if I screwed off my team to watch a match they would have kicked my head in. Thing is if it was on t.v people would have been aware of the game and would have gone but nobody knew about it and the media barely mentioned it so that is why no one went. How would the tv station know if it was going to be a sell out or not, they have to plan way ahead of the game. Maybe they should stop showing Wales matches on tv aswell then because we get low attendances in those games.

Second leg of TNS' game v Anderlecht was tonight, Anderlecht won 3-0 but it was 1-0 until relatively late in the game (70 mins). I watched online and TNS acquitted themselves well, had a fairly even amount of possession and corners and Evans and Baker at centre-back had very good games. Harrison the goalkeeper too.
Looking at the teams they could get in the Europa League, the lowest-ranked one is Odense and they beat Llanelli 6-1 over two legs in 2008. However, could get a game against Villa, Man City, or Ledley's Celtic. I reckon Celtic would be a great draw for TNS.

Financially, Celtic would be a great draw- They'd bring thousands down to the racecourse. Sounds like they're pretty bullish about staying in the Champions league though-http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/scotland/8878836.stm

In fairness, I think the lad Hooper was following a 'party line' there, didn't seem as though he said it with any real conviction. Celtic will almost certainly go out tonight - you can watch live here (links not always reliable, but you can usually get one to work) from 7:45: www.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=82083&part=sports

Ledley starting for Celtic. Seems to be playing in centre midfield. Already making an impact, couple of nice touches and lots of energy. Celtic really going for it.

Goal for Braga.
Over the Scottish commentators, you can hear the Portuguese guys next door shouting 'Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll', literally for that long. Must have some powerful lungs.
All but over for Celtic, they need 5 without reply.
