Our under 21s are second in their qualifying group with a game in hand. We’ve had youngsters playing for Liverpool, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Manchester City in pre-season. Wales would probably call them up to the senior squad. That isn’t a jibe, it’s just not how our management set up selects younger players. Our under 17s and 19s sides are very very good. Declan Rice looks set to stick with Ireland and is a hugely talented lad. There are several lads aged 21-23 who are playing regularly enough in the Championship. Many of whom will be likely to be mainstays for years to come. Ryan Manning (22), Callum O’Dowda (23), Alan Browne (23), Robinson (23) Conor O’Shaugnessy (20/21) Josh Cullen (22) are all decent players coming through and are already established decently at their clubs. Sean Maguire has just turned 24, which isn’t exactly young, but he’s been in shit hot form when fit in the Championship. Our domestic league is now providing half decent internationals every few years too. Why aren't any youngsters in the squad considering your injury crisis Because all the youngsters are all choosing to play for England.... |

Stats and history are bollocks. We beat Israel 0-3 away who hasn't lost at home in 4 years beat Russia who we'd never beaten 3-0. We are favourites and rightly so but if we lose or draw it won't be because of our last 8 games against Ireland. If black comes in on roulette 100 times in a row it's still 50/50 with red on the 101st spin (discounting green 0).
