Thanks erasedcitizen - Looking forward to that - first qualifying draw since August 2015 i believe for WC 2018!! The WC 2022 qualifying draw is sometime in July next year (currently says TBC), so two draws within 8 months. Wow. Less than 12 months away, and we'll already be looking at the draw for the next World Cup! Scary but exciting😀 Time really moves on quickly in football.

Now we're guaranteed to be in pot 2 for the main draw, here's a look at some of the teams we could face in pot 3 ad pot 4 (our most likely main rivals for qualification, if you will).
Teams ranked 21-30 in overall UEFA Nations League rankings will be in pot 3. That includes some group winners and runners up from League C, and some group losers from League B.
At the moment, the following teams are in positions 21-30. They obviously could change.
21. Sweden 22. Rep. Ireland 23. Slovakia 24. Northern Ireland 25. Finland 26. Israel 27. Norway 28. Serbia 29. Bulgaria 30. Scotland
The following teams are currently sitting in pot 4 (teams ranked 31-40)
31. Greece 32. Montenegro 33. Romania 34. Hungary 35. Albania 36. Cyprus 37. Slovenia 38. Estonia 39. Lithuania 40. Georgia
Note that one team from League D will be in pot 4. It isn't likely, but Luxembourg currently lead their section and are ranked 41st, one behind Georgia. Potentially, our 4th, 5th and 6th seeds could be Luxembourg, Gibraltar, and San Marino! Throw in say, Israel as 3rd seeds and we surely couldn't fuck that up?!

That pot three looks rubbish. Israel or Slovakia ... to rekindle the fond memories ;-)

Israel or Finland for third seed. Greece for fourth seed 🖒

I'd take any of them except maybe Serbia, Norway and Sweden, particularly Sweden or Serbia. Ironically, some of the teams in pot 4 may be more awkward. Don't fancy Montenegro or Romania.
If we get a fairly typical draw (neither easy or hard by the standards of the pot) we could end up with two of Northern Ireland, Finland, Israel, Rep. Ireland, Hungary, Slovenia, Albania, being our main rivals for qualification. Potentially, it could be Scotland and Luxembourg (!). Although the latter is really on the borders of believability

Finland look to be in great form, another Iceland in the making perhaps. They don't play in Helsinki either, I've changed my mind about wanting to draw them.
We'd dispose of Bulgaria, Israel and Scotland easily. I understand many not wanting to draw the jocks though.

Finland are a difficult one to judge. They had a fairly poor World Cup campaign (were in the group with Kosovo, Ukraine, Croatia, Iceland and Turkey) but have certainly hit their stride in the Nations League. I would like to avoid them at the moment, but their Nations League group fixtures have been home and away wins over Estonia, and home wins over Hungary and Greece. They still have to go to Greece and Hungary. I wouldn't be overly concerned if we drew them either.

only issue with being in pot 2 is to many cracking away trips (divorce pending)
Ideal group
ICELAND -- N. IRELAND (the partys over) LITHUANIA FAROES ISLANDS LIECHTENSTEIN
pot 3 gonna be tricky SWE SERB good side and then the local derbys of IRE/NIRE/SCO. pot dont fancy Georgia again either decent side.

That would be a group from hell as far as allocations would be concerned. All under a thousand and three under 500

Trouble is Iceland will probably be in pot 2 with us Hopefully the Dutch can get a draw at home v France as that will all but relegate Germany (they'd need to better the 3-0 they got defeated in).

I'll play anyone but would like an excuse to get back to Sweden. Finland at a push. Another country in Eastern Europe will be great too.

Seeing as the draw is in Dublin ... I wouldn't trust any Irishman in a dark room ;-) Guess we would have to bow to your experiences on that one......................... just want to know WTF were you doing...

I'm pretty sure that they don't do the draw and then send the delegates off to agree the fixtures any more. I think it is something like they do the draw of the group and then send the delegates off to do a secondary draw of the actual fixtures, it is only for the delegates only agree the actual day (and maybe the time) that they play now. Although I'm happy to be proven otherwise. But yes, judging by Euro 2016 qualifiers fixtures it was followed by a mad scramble to book flights.
Delegates agree dates but in many cases they never can so therefore they give it back to UEFA who agree the dates. This was the position in the past.
However with UEFA getting more heavily involved I would expect that for each group they will have already allocated dates for the home and away games and then just slot in the teams.
There will be possible individual amendments so for example if a game was due to being played in Dublin on 17th March in all likelihood it would go to a different date etc.

What would be a cheap option from Dublin to ukraine? Or were you thinking of London departures? Any thoughts of how to get to Sochi cheaply from Dublin / London - preferably not via Turkey...

London departures..............
Luton to Kutaisi in Georgia and go from there....
Alternate is via Moscow................ Aeroflot (Pobeda) are flying from Dublin to Moscow and direct from there.
Always do Lon- Vienna - Krasnador and fly or train from there................ we in Krasnador twice and pushed for time we had Taxi or Fly option................. fly was as cheap to Sochi but train is only 4 hrs.
Can fly Vienna to Krasnador but it is expensive.
London to Ukraine has Wizzair and Ryanair on route so will be cheap.

In Poland recently and driving on a Motorway and come across an advertising hoarding on a couple of occasions with Giggsy and a couple of Welsh players extolling the virtues of a money transfer business, who they indicating that are a sponsor of Wales.
Really was a WTF...................... Could expect it on M4 west of the bridge but Poland ?

I travel to Poland regularly.................. may not like it but most people do not know where Wales is.
UK, London yup.
Oh they know of the football team, especially Gareth Bale but that is because of Real Madrid, but knowing where Wales actually is completely different.
Not sure why its such an issue as lets face it most Welsh people would be hard pushed to find Poland on a map, just know it is somewhere in the east.

A Swedish girl in one of my college classes lived in London and had no idea where Wales was. She thought Cardiff and Swansea were in England.

Another big reason Giggs got the job. Global exposure and gets the world taking an interest in how Wales do.
