Seems to be coming through the Everton ranks really fast. Plays CB but can also play as RB.
Only turned 17 in October, but already fast tracked into their U23 side with two performances this month already (first performance was MOM a year ago).
Good mates with Robbie Burton and I know that Arsenal are very keen on signing him ;-)
Captained Wales U17 last year and hails from outside Welshpool. His Twitter feed is Wall-to-Wall FAW retweets ;-)
I think gaz mentioned him a couple of times in general threads.
Any input?

This guy always ends up being pretty good on Football Manager and Fifa.
It means nothing really but just saying.

Was great watching Ryan, as well as Rhys Hughes and Broadhead - facing a strong Man U U23.
FIRST HALF Interesting match-up, especially as United are playing a few big guns. Ryan is in the middle of the back three, and fairly solid, no nonsense defending. Tried to carry the ball out from the back, but mostly needed to spread the ball forward with long cross field balls. Rhys, on the left wing, has Brendon Williams to contend with. Mostly poor defensively, but had three shots from just outside the box, all on target, but all blocked. Broadhead is being played on the right wing. Coming against Marcus Rojo. Hasn't really impressed. so far.
Second Half Rhys came off. Not sure why. Probably his defensive shortcomings.
Ryan was moved slightly left, to cover the Williams runs - and he was superb, winning everything, especially in the air. Broadhead was given a free role as a floating ten, and also did much better in second half. Nathan created havoc, which brought about the goal. Williams - with a blatant dive - won a pen in the 97th minute, Classic Ferggie moment, for the winner. Ended 2-1. #WeWasRobbed

Good read that
On football manager he always ends up being one of our better defenders - not that it counts for much, just interesting and must mean he was highly rated at one point
Seems like next step for him would be a loan?

Yeah, I don't think he'd be far off a loan move, he's played every minute so far for Everton U23's this season, and is due to play against at home to Chelsea today at 1pm.
When Regan Poole moves on, I think he'd be expected to step up to the U21's permanently. We're producing a lot of centre-backs at the moment.

Given that Levitt got his chance with the senior set up virtually entirely on the basis of U23 outings for United it wouldn't be entirely surprising if Astley got called up. Perhaps not on this occasion, but possibly before the Euros.

Perhaps not on this occasion, but possibly before the Euros. I suppose Levitt getting his opportunity is a reflection of the dearth of quality in midfield. You’d imagine Astley would have to prove himself a bit more based on the fact we have a decent stable of defenders. I’m looking forward to seeing this lad play some senior football sooner rather than later. I don’t think it did Nathan Broadhead staying in the youth set up so long.

One of only two defenders on Everton's bench tonight (the other being a 20 year old with only one senior appearance), so he might have a chance of getting on if one of their back 4 pick up an injury.

Had a very impressive match v Arsenal, who had around 85% possession.
Very dominant in the air and blocked at least 7 or 8 certain goals.
Came up against a very special Arsenal FW talent called Balogun, but certainly was equal to the task.
Was the sole reason this match ended 1-1

Great to hear Is he Welsh born? (Not that it matters) Didn’t Broadhead win the same award a couple of seasons back?

Never a huge fan of Everton. Seem to give lads contracts and just stick them perennialy in the U23's or out on loan to League One sides.
They've recently had lads on their books up until ages of 26/27 having barely featured for the first team and just solely out on loan or involved in U23s for far too long than required

I think Lampard is a useless manager but he doesn't mind giving kids a chance from time to time so you never know. If Everton go down he could well end up becoming part of their first team next season.

Missed this one, but he's got a season long loan with League 1 Accrington Stanley.

This is very encouraging. Playing his first proper season of senior football at 20 for Accrington Stanley. Looks like he's playing every game in League 1, and just been voted their player of the month:
