I don't want to potentially jinx our prospects by mentioning the cursed "I" word (denoting injuries), but how is the squad looking on that front?

Bale isn't in tonight's Madrid squad, so it's squeaky bum time

Caught the first half of Charlton's game yesterday and J Williams looked pretty good, sharp, quick, confident. I know this is league 1 though, and he was subbed after 60 mins, not sure why. Thought his international career was over, but if he remains fit he could be a handy option in midfield now we're so short in that area.

Tom Lawrence could feature for County next week. Chester and Rodon seem to be out for the forseeable future.
Harry Wilson and Connor Roberts seem tired - certainly off the boil ;-(

Thought his international career was over, but if he remains fit he could be a handy option in midfield now we're so short in that area. I saw the first half too, and most things that Jonny Williams did were very good - he was only denied an assist after a lovely one-two because the Charlton striker managed the hit his own player from 6 yards out in front of goal. In general though I thought he looked sluggish and didn't look fully match fit, so I wasn't surprised to hear he's probably tweaked a hamstring. There's plenty of ability still there, but he needs to be firing on all cylinders again to be able to stake a claim in the squad for qualifying matches.

No Andrew Hughes is a shame. I’d have him over John on current form.

8 of the 31 will be sent home after Trinidad and Tobago. I imagine a few of those will be depending on performance.

Calms fitness worries by saying Bale’s injury was ‘just a kick’. He rolled his ankle Ryan, landing awkwardly after challenging for a header. You’d know that if you were watching 😉

Giggs on Dan James: "He scored a great goal. Interesting to see him playing up front as that gives me another option. When you have speed like he does it always keeps you interested".
Can see James playing up front for us against T&T, would be good to give a front 3 of Lawrence James Matondo a run out and chance to stake their claim for slovakia

For me I think we need to be playing our starting defence for Slovakia in this one for at least 60 minutes. Developing defensive relationships and consistency is more important than giving backups game time at the moment.
I'd mix and match our midfielders like this Ampadu-Vaulks/Evans-Smith for each half, giving them the opportunity to fight for their place alongside Allen-Ramsey.
Further I'd like to see James-Wilson-Matondo, with Roberts further ahead to see who steps up as a starter/bench option against Slovakia.
Hennessey Roberts-Williams-Mepham-Davies Ampadu-Vaulks James-Wilson-Matondo T. Roberts

Roberts Agreed on the importance of providing another chance for the defence to develop their partnership, but Roberts has played so many games this season and Davies plays in a really high intensity team. The way modern football is played, fullbacks need to be the fittest players on the pitch. So I'd rest them, it's more important for the centre backs to have a solid understanding of each other's games. Mepham and Ash can't have played together more than twice, so they need it.

I'm with you, Mepham and Ash should start vs T&T to get an understanding of eachothers game, Gunter and Taylor full backs. I'd go with a back 3 vs Slovakia either Davies or Ampadu as the left sided CB. Think Dummett could be a tidy wing back in a 3-4-3.
