Owen Rhys Evans (born 28 November 1996) in Newport plays for Wigan and has broken into the squad this season. Another keeper warming the bench but he's young and could be the future. Made a few appearances at U19 and U21 levels.

Just watched him against Northampton. Saved a penalty and looked quality, should have been man of the match. Playing League 2 on loan but still young.

Not yet confirmed but if true, good move for him. Hopefully, gets some games under his belt. He had a good loan spell there previosuly. One to keep an eye on.

Signed for Walsall in League Two with Mike Flynn. Maybe not knocking on the door liked I thought he'd be.

If he does well he could be in the frame after Hennessey retires Big loss when we lose Hennessey. Beyond him and Ward the quality of keepers we have does take a bit of a dive. No one immediately coming through his establishing themselves playing above League One. Think it'd be well worth while calling up a youngster as third choice going forward after the world cup

Think it'd be well worth while calling up a youngster as third choice going forward after the world cup I disagree for now, I think Hennessey, Ward and Davies are our best 3 GKs so I'd continue to choose them. Where I'd like to see change is in the backup GK category, as it always seems to be King that's chosen. I do wonder if that's because he's based in Newport so it's easier to bring him down, rather than call someone down from further afield to just bench-warm. That being said, I'd like Owen Evans to be 4th choice now. If he's first choice at Walsall he's the best option with many years ahead of him

Saved a penalty in a 2-0 FA cup win for Walsall at Wycombe Wanderers.

He had a very good game and made a number of decent saves, surely he has a future with us if that was a typical standard performance, we are not exactly blessed in that area.

I think it was Owen Evans in goal for Walsall the other day against Leicester? Watched motd highlights, he made some good saves

Owen Evans released from Walsall. Not great for a slim pool of goalkeepers to pick from. Not that he ever would be considered. dragonsoccer - any ideas if Aidan Stone from Motts County is eligible as per football manager?

Disappointing to hear that about Owen Evans, hopefully he can still make a career of it around top end of League One at some point

Think we'll have to ride the storm for a bit. Unless Ward and Davies can both get moves to get regular game time.
Even if it was League One or abroad in a lesser league, just playing regularly goes a long way.
Ward priced out of a move. Too much for any team to take him on. Can't imagine he's kicking up a fuss either.
Davies I think will probably become number 2 with Wes Foderingham being released.
Think as soon as Eddie Beach is playing within EFL or equivalent I'd just call him up. Same applies for any keeper playing regularly at that level for us. Need to build some competition and let them know nothing is for granted.

Hennessey being released too is interesting. Will he retire? Adam Davies really needs to move to League One to challenge for Ward's position IMO

Never easy to go into period of uncertainty as he is. Hopefully he bounces back and he still has time to climb up the table.
GK situation has been an issue for a number for years now and probably won't be fixed quickly. We probably have 2 years til it becomes critical.

Mike Flynn doing the Lord's work in trying to establish a Welsh goalie number 1. If he's regular in League One next season he has to be called up ahead of Davies or King imo, it's just a no brainer

Cheltenham relegated. Playing in League 2 for 24/25 season.
Two keepers to keep an eye on this summer are Jake Dennis 18 y.o. at Cardiff and Josey Casa-Grande 18 y.o. at Bristol City. I imagine most likey would be the same standard but there seems to be a real gap in quality for keepers at the moment.
Jake Dennis was loaned out closing end of second half of last season to Gloucester City. Only played 7 matches.
Josey Casa-Grande was initially at on loan Tiverton but got injured at the start of the season after signing for them. Joined Bath in January midway through the season due to their keeper getting injured. Played in some crucial matches for them and got recalled by Bristol City after Baths starting keeper returned from injury.
A right of passage for Premier League/Championship goalkeepers to be sent out into non-league at Tier 5 & 6 when they're between the ages of 18-20 just to get them used the physicallity. By no means going to be starters for us anytime soon but could well be in the next few years.
