Baring any late injury news (please no) this would be my team for Friday night under the lights:
Hennessey
Roberts Rodon Meps Taylor
Ampadu Allen Joniesta
Wilson Bale James
If we can’t best the Azers with that then etc etc

An exciting front 3 with 7 goals between them already in top flight football.
Dont think Williams will start though and if Davies is fit I would start him over Taylor.

Any update on how many tickets have been sold? Hard to estimate without knowing if Azerbaijan are taking up the usual away corner. Assuming they are not and these are all to go on sale, can't be more tha about 25/26k. I'd expect this to approach about 30k given it's a Friday night.

Taking my baby daughter, who's 6 months' old, for her first game. I'm assuming we don't need a ticket for her?

I think we should definitely start Jonny - he brings something different and can create. Lawrence and Ben off the bench perhaps in the second half.

You do unfortunately. I took my kids when they were young and they all need a ticket. I thought babes in arms didn’t require a ticket as they would not be taking up a seat? My kids were 2 and sat on my lap but when I checked with the FAW ticket office beforehand I was told they would still need a ticket. I have looked at the t and c and can't see anything about young children not requiring a ticket. I guess you could try it and hope the steward on the door sees sense and lets you in. For a £5 extra I didn't think it was worth quibbling over. Phone the FAW for official confirmation.

Lawrence had a bit of a stinker apparently over the weekend - gave the ball away a few times which led to the first goal and almost conceded another. I don't think Derby fans think much of him. I can see jonny getting a lot more joy

Just watched Azerbaijan's other games. Something to note, don't be fooled by the 5-1 against Slovakia too much. 4 of those goals were from outside the box, Slovakia really had their shooting boots on that day. Against Hungary they conceded twice from a set piece, and against Croatia they conceded one from the set piece and once from a defensive mistake. So maybe they are not so easy to break down from open play. Whilst they are not a good team, I'd put them a level above Andorra/Gibraltar/San Marino, and will require more guile to break down than these teams.
Ramil Sheydaev has scored both their goals in qualifying so far, so he's probably their biggest threat. Played for the Russian age groups up to u21, but then switched to Azerbaijan. Currently plays in the Russian League for Dynamo Moscow.

The subs for me are Tom and Matthew. Would be interesting to see Ryan Hedges have a run out in last 15 minutes, if we are in a strong position, but I imagine Giggs going with Woodburn instead

Hennessey Roberts Mepham Rodon Davies Allen Ampadu Lawrence Wilson James Bale Spot on, this is the team I’d go for as well. Home game against Azerbaijan we should be attacking them and trying to score goals. Joniesta to come on in the second half for one of the attacking players to see the game out then.

All the more reason for us to use the trickery of Jonny and (tin hat at the ready) Hedges - both gaining us plenty of free kicks.

We need to go at them from the start. Bale and James need to do the business.

So Davies v Taylor and Joniesta v Lawrence seem to be the only debates here. I'd go for Davies and Lawrence personally, but would look at bringing Jonny on. That being said, I haven't seen him performing for Charlton yet so perhaps my opinion on that means jack shit. I wouldn't be too disappointed at any variation and expect all 4 to feature at some point.

No way does James Lawrence not start. Giggs seems obsessed with having a left-footed CB even if he can't defend.

If he does, it's a criminal decision from Giggs who has 1 prem defender and 2 high flying championship defenders to choose from. James Chester is due back in training over the next few weeks, and Ashley Williams will hopefully be getting game time at Bristol soon. Ash should be in the squad over Lawrence anyway.

I'd be tempted to start Vokes... especially given the insight into the number of set pieces Azerbaijan have conceded.
James, Wilson, Bale
Amps, Allen
Taylor. Mepham, Rodon, Roberts

Is Ampadu likely to start? He's barely played past few weeks. Who else partners Allen in that role? Vaulks, Smith? I have a feeling he will start Vaulks.

No way does James Lawrence not start. Giggs seems obsessed with having a left-footed CB even if he can't defend. If that happens I'll just stay in the concourse! He's got a perfectly capable left-footed defender in Ben Davies.
