Looking at uefa match schedule (uefa website)... A1 v A2 is first match in Rome. So is it right to assume A1 is italy as they are opening as hosts and all in rome. Is it then a draw to see who is A2.3.4 or is Wales A4. ifso we have two in baku. Group B Then B2 must be Russia (B2 v B1) Denmark must be B3 (B3 v B4) so again if not a draw and Wales B4. Then it could go Copenhagen. st Petersburg . Copenhagen as a draw of who's home is done for teams that are not no.1 seed. Italy will be hosting the first game in Rome, and we'll play two games in Baku but other than that the order is determined by the draw. If we were to get in Group A, it's going to be so much better for fans if it's Rome, Baku, Baku then if it were Baku, Rome, Baku.

So it's now just a straight toss-up between Baku/Rome and Copenhagen/Saint Petersburg? From what I gather from the ESPN twitter account its 50/50 between us and Finland ;-(
Surely the Finns would appreciate the 45c sunshine a lot more than us - can we not just come to a deal ;-))
GROUP B is pretty much nailed on to be Russia, Denmark and Belgium
GROUP A is more complex:
Italy One of France/Poland/Switzerland/Croatia One of Portugal/Turkey/Austria/Sweden/Czech Republic Wales or Finland
... So we could have Italy, Portugal and France OR we could even end up with Italy, Switzerland and Czech Rep ...
I know which I'd take competitive-wise.. Italy, Switzerland and Czech Republic.

"With hosts Scotland in Path C, and two other hosts Hungary and Romania to be drawn into Path A or C, it will not be possible to prevent one of these paths from containing two host teams. Therefore, the winner of the path with two hosts must be assigned to two final tournament groups." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020_qualifying_play-offs#Match_pairings_and_rulesSurely that means us, Finland or Path D play-off winner (no host country involved) would need to be assigned to two groups? Kosovo cannot be in Group B it says here, so I assume if they weren't in the play-offs, Path D could have gone into B? Which means another group is open to us surely? Why did England have to lose v Czech Republic ffs?! We could've been in pot 3 and had all groups bar B available to us! Damn Saes!

Can't see them taking it out of Europe tbh, UEFA have seen the fallout of Sepp's Qatargate and learned you need to be sly when implementing your bribes. A Celtic bid would only have 6 stadiums out of 10 able to host, with all 6 being in Cardiff (CCS & MS), Dublin (Aviva) & Glasgow (Old Firm & Hampden). Being on the safe side, Swansea & Wrexham would need to expand to 30k & Cardiff expand to 40k. Scotland would probably need to expand some stadiums in Aberdeen & Edinburgh maybe. Most Irish stadiums are completely unsuitable for a modern football tournament however. We'd definitely get the final though Must remind me next time I am in Croke Park (82,000) about how unsuitable it is.
Throw in Thomond Park Limerick, Pairc in Chaoimh in Cork both 45,000 plus with no expansion or refurbs needed.

I wonder how long it’ll be before we have the Euros in USA to celebrate European openness... or €uropean openne$$. I thought Turkey pulled out because they wanted the Olympics and the only option was Ireland, N. Ireland, Scotland and Wales? I’d like to see areas get given it. Like Britain and Ireland, Baltic Countries, Balkans, Scandinavia, Central Europe. Let the big boys have it like France, England, Germany, Italy every once in a while and then say a joint bid from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and possibly Ukraine if Poland can’t do the heavy lifting themselves. You mean like the one Poland and Ukraine did when they hosted it in 2012 ?

I think we can go into any group other than E at the moment, depending on Friday's qualifying draw. One of Wales, Finland and Play-off path D (no host involved) being able to go into two groups depending on who qualifies on 31st March? Play-off Nations League D winner, containing Kosovo and no host nation, cannot go into Group B because of Russia, so us or Finland would need to go in there. This is so complicated. I've edited this post so many times. So in the scenerios - - Hungary & Romania are in path 'A' and Scotland 'C', we could face 'Group Pairing C/F' - Hungary qualify and we are in Group C, Romania qualify and we are in Group F. If neither qualify we go into either? Drawn on 30th Nov? Hungary are in path 'A' / Scotland & Romania 'C' we could face 'Group Pairing C/D' - Romania qualify and we are in Group D or Scotland qualify and we are in Group C. If neither qualify we go into either? Drawn on 30th Nov? Romania are in path 'A' / Scotland & Hungary 'C' we could face 'Group Pairing D/F' - Scotland qualify and we are in Group F or Hungary qualify and we are in Group D. If neither qualify we go into either? Drawn on 30th Nov? Along with being drawn into A or B. If that is correct, I seriously hope Hungary and Romania are not in path 'A' because trying to book 2 lots of accomodation/look at travel options for C/F would be a nightmare. At least with D being an option if either of Hungary or Romania are in the play-off with Scotland, while not ideal that we could play England, the short notice it would be easier to plan.

I think we can go into any group other than E tbh at the moment, depending on Friday's qualifying draw. If Hungary & Romania are both drawn into Pathway A, that means we could not be in CDEF. If Hungary go into the same play-off path as Scotland, we could not go into DEF. If Romania go into the same play-off path as Scotland, we could not go into CDE. Surely that's right? Play-off path winner D cannot go into Group B because of Russia, but other than that will be treated the same as us and Finland? But then how do they work out what happens to the 'other' group without a play-off winner? Surely either us, Finland or the play-off path D winner face having two possibilities depending on who wins the play-off path with two sides in? So that would make D a possibility if Scotland lost their play-off with Romania or Hungary qualifying from play-off path C instead? This is so complicated. I don't think UEFA have a clue tbh it's a complete mess where there are groups halfway completed already before any draw.

Croke has terracing though, doesn't it? That's a no-go for UEFA and I can't see the GAA refurbing their crown jewel again for an "English" sport. Same goes for most other GAA stadiums. Thomond would need to be all seater at 30k too.

Yeah, more matches now but surely give 3 group games each to smaller nations with larger ones picking up the major matches and training complexes. Even Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany hosting. 90% of the work being done by Germany but be a chance for others who wouldn’t get a chance to host.

Hungary can go into Path C with Scotland. Romania and Hungary can be in Path A. Scotland could get one of Israel or Bulgaria in their play off path. Wikipedia says that League play-off D winners cannot be drawn into Group B which I take to mean they can go into A. Meaning us or Finland could go into two of C/D/F (one of which will be eliminated on Friday by the way of the qualifying draw). I've yet to see anything that says League D takes the place of a host team that doesn't qualify from the path with 2 host nations in for sure.

Surely this is predetermined and we are in either A or B. The draw just clarifies what group the qualifiers will take. You cant wait till they qualify as that in march and too late.

Thomond is 27,000 so not a lot of work plus there is Semple Stadium 46,000 or Gaelic Grounds in Limerick with a 50,000 capacity both in need of refurb but they are full when required.

Agree its A or B. Hosts are prioritised and therefore:
Routes C taken by hungary. Scotland D Ireland E Romania F
win or lose these places will be allocated at the draw apart from group 3 which will have to see who wins.
So if winners ICELAND (1) are in with Hungary they will go to Bucharest.
Ire group (2) know there fate is E.
so this leaves the only uncertainty is Sco is with Rom. So say winners Serbia (3) and Georgia (4) i suppose will a draw will determine D or F.

There's a draw on Friday! 3 of Israel/Bulgaria/Romania/Hungary will be assinged to the League A play off! The other league C! It's possible that Scotland will not have Hungary or Romania in their play off path! Wikipedia says League D play off path cannot be placed in Group B because of the possible Kosovo/Russia clash. That suggests to me they can go into A - so us or Finland could be in C/D/F.

UEFA haven't confirmed the exact structure but they've stated that they'll do their best to keep the hosts in separate play-off routes.
3 teams need to be moved from the League C route to the League A route anyway so it makes complete sense for Hungary (as the lowest ranked league C host) to be automatically moved up before the draw to separate them from Romania and Scotland.
Then the only problem you face is having Scotland and Romania in the same route but that seems eminently solvable by putting the winner of the C route into the group they're hosting, and the winner of the D route into the one leftover.
Doesn't really seem to be an issue? I imagine the draw will take place and all groups will be fully drawn accept for one team in C and one team in D.

It's been fairly well briefed that they will keep the hosts apart, From the Wikipedia article you linked above: But, irrespective, it doesn't seem to have a massive impact on us?
On the 30th, you can draw four qualified teams into A and B then leave four unqualified fourth seed spots in C, D, E, F.
There's no Kosovo/ Russia clash then and any qualifying hosts could be put into the group they're hosting.

I think this is what most assume is the case but I don't think it's actually correct. I'm pretty sure it's A or B for us now for certain jbt95. The key being this line in the wiki page: As two host teams will be competing in the same play-off path, the winner of this play-off path will therefore need to be assigned two groups in the final tournament draw. To allow for this, a second play-off path will be paired with the path involving two hosts, providing a clear scenario for each possible qualified team. It's another play off path (which will have to be path D) that get's paired and ends up in C, D or F. Hence we are certain for A or B.

Completely agree. The only other uncertainty is do they do a draw to determine whether A1.A2.A3.A4. your either gonna get 2 consecutive games in Baku / russia.cope or italy baku italy russ . den . russia / den russia . den (russia den both host and will draw to determine who get 3 games at home.
