Obviously relishing his supersub role. That's what he'll be for us anyway if Vokes continues his good form this season.

Yeah shame he is happy to settle, but im sure he gets paid well, and he believes he can prove himself as their no.1 man. Bets of luck to him, but i do feel he should go somewhere to play regularly.

Hal's red card seemed a bit harsh

Hal's red card seemed a bit harsh It was fair, you can't do that in the modern game it is dangerous play. Not much complaining from Hal so he knew what he had done. Extra rest now for Austria.

According to the radio (5 Live) Hal has missed 2 great chances from close range tonight, one hitting the outside of the post from 10 yards when 2-1 down.

Utter crap move for him going there. Hope they go down and he gets a move, or plays regular in the championship at least.

I really don’t think Giggs thought how can I motivate Robson Kanu. I’m guessing he’s not a fan of his and didn’t pick him. Probably likes a bigger guy such as Vokes up front. If we’re thinking of players to give a kick up the backside to why Robson Kanu? He scores vital goals for us. There’s a few I think should get that ahead of Robson Kanu. I know he’s a striker but I think his percentage of Wales goals in the last few years will be up there, only behind Bale?

Robson-Kanu gets in my strongest 23. I think it would be mad to omit him for a crucial qualifying campaign.

It’s going to be interesting to see how he compares to Harrison, Tyler Roberts and potentially Bradshaw now they’ll be playing at the same level.

Personally think he is a class above at this moment in time. Not saying that can't change, particularly in Roberts case, hopefully with Rondon probably off this'll be the first time since he got injured in Reading's PL season that he'll get a chance up-front at club level. Got 7 goals that season too.

He will never receive a reception like he does with us at any club. Why give that up at 29?

A message to a nation. I am grateful to have lived a dream in representing my nation at an International level. It has been an honour to pull on a shirt supported by true Pride and unrivalled Passion.
Pride, in achieving what none thought we could and Passion, in being one nation #togetherstronger.
I have made the decision to retire from International football. Long thought, but a decision made; commitments to my family and dedicating what time I have available to them and choosing to focus on my club career within sport and time needed away from the game.
I wish Ryan Giggs and the team continued success in the years to come, and appreciate his understanding and support, a new generation to continue building on what Gary Speed and Chris Coleman have set in place.
This is a short note to say Thank You to every individual and supporter of our proud nation. From losses and heartache to jubilation and joy. I look forward to becoming one of you, and am simply proud to have played my part in our journey.

It's a shame but his contributions to the cause will live long in our memories and I'm sure that his chant will be sung in appreciation at CCS next week. Thanks / diolch yn fawr Hal....

Gonna miss you Hal. What the hell are we going to sing now?

I'm genuinely gutted. I'll always remember that Belgium stunner. I don't know if he decided to leave because of the reasons mentioned or Giggs' plans for the future, but it is a crying shame.

Disgusted. Retiring from international football at the age of 29?
As I mentioned in the squad thread, could be toys out of the pram at not being one of the main men going into the future.
Made some fantastic memories with us, but this is disappointing.

Disgusted. Retiring from international football at the age of 29? Made some fantastic memories with us, but he can shove it now. Poor comment. Three incredible goals for wales off the top of my head - one being probably the most famous goal in welsh football history - thanks for the memories Hal and enjoy your retirement. I’ll still be smiling about the Belgium goal many many years from now.

Yeah I agree, like I said, fantastic memories. But there's no excusing retiring from international football at the age of 29. I remember lots of people making a fuss when Giggs retired at 33, yet continued to play well for man utd for nearly 7 more years. Why should other players get treated differently when they are retiring even younger?

Giggs would probably have had the chat with him pre-squad announcement and to be fair, it looks like HKR has had the decency to wait until after this has been published and then announced his retirement, he could have thrown his toys out and done it 24 hours ago, shows he's a level above. It's his prerogative and we should just doff our caps to the man, thank him for all he's done for our football nation and wish him all the best for his football and business future.
