Communication is important and that sort of support may be helpful in big games against teams with a good press but for me in the games heโs featured, it was all just so unnecessary. If you focus on him during play and not where the ball is, he is continuously doing it and he is basically, 99% of the time, stating the obvious. I donโt know, I love his ability on the ball; the direct balls forward and his confidence but ito me thereโs a bit of arrogance there and a hint of show pony...

It's fantastic that he bosses senior pros and shows leadership beyond his years.
He controls play remarkably well for a player of his age. He should be encouraged to keep doing it.

Glad to see I'm not in the minority with this one.
Senior pros wont be bothered at all.
He will be the next captain after Bale and will become an all time Welsh great.

This kid hardly ever plays a meaningful game and is just coming back from an injury but as soon as he came on he did this beautiful Crossfield 70 yd pass and I thought wow this kid really is it isn't he,be criminal if he spends the next 3 years sitting on his ass at Chelsea though, surely they know how good he is better than anyone and will get game time soon.

For all the talk of our attacking talent, I genuinely feel Ampadu is our best prospect. He will play at the top level for many years, and I think it's imperative that we give him as many caps as possible now. It will only serve us better in the long term.

I might be exaggerating but when Ethan and Brooks came on, the team dramatically improved, so he must have been doing something right! Clearly knew what he was doing! Love Ethan's passion and his flair on the ball (felt that he complimented Brooks as an attacking midfielder, beautifully in this regard). I'm starting to consider that he should merit a start over Smith in defensive midfield on Tuesday (if only for the first half).

Ampadu is different class to Smith and let's not even mention Vaulks. Ampadu starts for me every game. At the moment we have certain starters Hennessey Mepham Davies Allen Ramsey Bale Brooks Ampadu C Roberts not far off. So that leaves 2 spaces up for grabs Williams, Chester or Rodon (not having Lockyer or Lawrence). Then James, Wilson, vokes or Lawrence. Do feel at the moment we need either Williams or Gunter to add some experience at the back.

Agreed - although I don't think it's necessary to give him caps just to build up his experience. He's there on merit, and if fit, should start regardless of any other considerations. His composure on the ball, in tight situations, when he came on against Croatia, was a joy to behold. If he starts against Hungary our prospects will improve dramatically.

Do feel at the moment we need either Williams or Gunter to add some experience at the back. Agree with most of that. Ampadu is a world class player in the making, and that sets him apart from his peers, apart possibly Brooks. I do rate Smith though - I see plenty of signs that he's another Allen in the making, which is praise indeed. Although he didn't have the best of games against Croatia he was involved in the build-up play of our two best moves - the Vaulks effort and Bale's effort when he should have squared to James. Unsurprisingly, when fully fit Jonny Williams comes into the frame for me, but I suspect not for Giggs. If he can start a game with Vaulks then clearly achieving the synergies you get from playing a lot of highly technical players together isn't high on his list of priorities. I watched the Portugal vs Netherlands Nations League final last night - and it was different level, mainly because there were no technically limited players on the pitch rather than there being many outstanding individual performers. You can only really achieve fluency as a team if you have all your players able to play assured one-touch football. We're not far off being able to do that, if we select the right players.

Do feel at the moment we need either Williams or Gunter to add some experience at the back. It's been tough for me to pick and choose between the two because clearly Smith has more first team experience. He's also extremely hard-working (particularly impressive against Ireland away during the Nations League). However, when it comes to flair and natural talent, it's Ethan all the way. I concede that we need both though! But based on the first twenty minutes of Smith and Ampadu's appearances, Ethan snatched it for me. He and Brooks made an impact when they came off that bench. As for the other picks, Roberts ahead of Gunter all day for me (I'm afraid that despite the need for seasoned experience, Gunter does have a habit of conceding possession in dangerous areas, even evidenced by the Denmark v Wales stats during the Nations League). And Ashley ahead of Lawrence for me, at the moment. His stalwart presence could have been a welcome factor in Croatia. For all his occasional shortcomings, he has experience in high-stakes tournament qualifications and competitions.

Knowing our luck he'll be fit , pointing left right and centre and give away a penalty like spurs ๐ I think this is a subconscious thing to help him stay focussed on where the ball is, as the player with the ball cannot see Ethan in his line of vision half the time. He doesn't say anything sometimes either, just points to where the ball should end up rather than instructing the ball carrier what to do.

I'm not going to lie, when I play defence or defensive midfield, I'm always pointing at things......team mates, other teams' players, open spaces........fit birds in the stand.

Ethan being eyed up for a potential loan move to Aston Villa next season apparently.. All dependent on Sarri's successor of course.

Anyone notice Ethan doing this against Hungary? An interesting video about a new form of build up play Dortmund have been using, including examples where it works and when it doesn't work so well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap2iyR9jleQ

Is Frank getting the job at Chelsea a good or bad thing for Ethan? As much I try to stay of the subject of FL๐ก I think it will benefit all younger players coming thro. Likes of mount and amps could benefit due to this so called transfer ban.... If not now with FL they never will.
