Never understood this premise that there are only four football teams in Wales. 6 in theory, but lowest two have a fair few issues between them and it'd probably make sense to sacrifice their profile over finances by playing in a part-time league with a glass ceiling and the occasional trip to Estonia.

The EPL has the same ceiling, in fact all league structures do.

Every year is the same. There just doesn’t seem to be any desire to give Welsh players a chance.

Every year is the same. There just doesn’t seem to be any desire to give Welsh players a chance. Playing no less than 16 Welsh lads ended us up in this fucking cesspit league, and given that Taylor has been cast aside for Davies, and both Maxwell and Ward are repeatedly ignored for Hennessey, the reward factor for playing Welsh lads really isn't there anymore. At this point, I just want players who will get us back into the league, rather than fulfilling some nationalist fantasy. If we go up, perhaps we could look at playing local lads in smaller batches, but I'd rather not risk sliding back down into this league again.

Fair play that's shocking

More like that knob Alex Hamilton to blame than the players themselves.

I understand what you’re saying but those players who will get us back in the league haven’t got us back in the league with 10 years of trying, perhaps we need a new approach. Lainton, Pearson, Lawlor, Jennings and Tollitt are the only decent players I’d actually want to keep and one of them isn’t even ours. Would be in any worse position if in summer we bought in 3 or 4 young hungry Welsh even as cover.

If you go back to the 'good old days', there was always a decent Welsh contingent, with many homegrown. Unless the club climbs back into the EFL the best local talent won't want to join Wrexham if there are other offers.

I’ve always wondered if we went in that direction whether we’d be more appealing for Welsh players. Identify the best talent who haven’t made it, give them a chance and see where we go. If there’s a few there you’ve played with at U21 level it might swing things. Also if we’ve got 3 or 4 quality young Welsh players in the matchday squad would it be easier to get noticed by the Welsh set up? Could be a massive appeal if we worked it right.

We did this with Neil Taylor and Curtis Obeng which seemed to work, although Manchester City's U21/Academy teams might be a bit too highbrow for us now.
