Bloody hell mate, you know football's meant to be fun? I'll throw a party when we sign Mbappe and Aouar. Fylde spent more than £2m last season and got relegated for their troubles. For the club, it could be good news, but as someone who wanted to see the trust get a fair deal, it's woeful. A fair deal? Two incredibly rich individuals are offering to take on the running of the club and put some serious money in. What's unfair given the details of the deal have yet to be thrashed out?

The opening part of your post sums up exactly what I meant when I said people would run away all giddy. £2m isn't serious money, Moss & Roberts put that much and the rest into our club.

Moss and Roberts didn't put millions into the club but they certainly took money out letting it run up debts and then asset stripping it. I struggle to believe Reynolds and co are also looking at asset stripping. Could you elaborate on why you don't think it's a fair deal for the trust?

Spencer is making it out to be a brilliant deal for us. I always had him down as being overly loyal to the community owned model so for him to be saying that, I think it must be good. I just don't see how this won't be a good deal for us. You're talking a large increase in sponsorship, merchandise sales and even a contract with Amazon, on top of the cash they've promised to invest up front. It really is the big time not only for the club, but for the town itself.

I don't think Reynolds would be interested in asset stripping either, but I also don't think a nominal fee represents a fair deal for our years of investment and hard work. They're essentially getting a debt-free club, no creditors, up to date with our taxes etc., a total clean slate for nothing - would you sell your car to a celebrity for £1 if they promised to remap it, stick £100 of fuel in etc. after you've MOT'd and serviced it? The trust could use funds from the sale for a future buy-back to prevent us slipping into the hands of Moss-types again when the Americans get bored and wish to move on. It could be a good deal, but my fear is ending up saddled with debt we wouldn't be able to repay.

The rumour is they want to take a lower league side, build it up to be something huge and document it. Rob McElhenney chose Wrexham due to it formerly being a mining town, as his father was a miner, and he sold the idea to Ryan Reynolds who could provide more up front capital. Ahh ok bro thanks for clearing it up . So Wrexham fc could be on Amazon as one of the all or nothing series of documentary. Cannot see that manager being in a job long if they take over the club they would think they had bought a rugby club with the hoofball he plays? Possibly, I did see that McElhenney was hooked on Sunderland 'Til I Die. Besides he's also an expert on training. Here's one of his exercise bikes... Attachments:

What value would you put on a business with 300K in the bank, no assets and a projected loss of 500K for the season? I understand your point about the trust using funds from a sale but given the trust board's poor performance and questionable decision-making in recent seasons I wouldn't trust them with the money. Ideally, the trust would retain a minority shareholding going forward to give us some protection. I'd say there's a responsibility on the trust's negotiators to ensure the sale doesn't put the club's long term future at greater risk. I also don't think given the wealth of the two investors that they'll saddle the club with debt. That's just my opinion though and counts for nothing. Interesting times ahead that's for sure.

I also don't think given the wealth of the two investors that they'll saddle the club with debt. That's just my opinion though and counts for nothing. Interesting times ahead that's for sure. It's a once in a generation issue that we'd need to work out with the FAW, Welsh government, NL & other sources of funding in football. In a regular year we'd have a turnover of £1m+, which is worth something in itself. This board have been nothing short of a shambles with their secrecy and lack of communication prior to the pandemic, but it's short-sighted to think the same individuals would be involved if/when Ryan wants to sell up - we're talking about possibly a decade from now. The trust model could be completely revamped in that time to straighten out the flaws we've encountered during this era of ownership, and we could get professionals in to do the high impact jobs around the club. I totally agree with you on the point of minority shareholding and basic protections, but they're talking about a 100% sale, so this isn't on offer sadly.

McElhenney and Reynolds strike me as sounds guys who're not going to be looking to make a quick buck. This will be a long term project for them and surely their interest will not be to see Wrexham suffer long term even if their investment doesnt get them to where they want to be.
Get fans will not want to give the club away for nothing, but this does sound like once in a lifetime chance. Look at the L1 & L2 clubs dropping out tas they are insolvent and Wrexham could go into to the season with a massive boost.
'The Gang buy Wrexham AFC'

We don't know all the details yet, but I think this will end up being a very good thing for Wrexham. Reynolds is minted, his gin company sold for $610 million last month, and he would have had a sizeable percentage of that business (believed to be 20%), so he's definitely got the finances to back Wrexham. These guys have got a very positive public image, and they're going to want to keep it that way.

He's no doubt a very successful businessman, unlike anything we've had before, but whether or not he'd be prepared to invest in us for the long-haul in a notoriously loss-making industry, who knows?

Imagine if it were to be the makings of a football Chariots of Fire movie 😁 Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham?! Who'd have thought it eh... Paul Rutherford a Hollywood name, who’d have thought it!! The heartbreaking ending when Dibble gets nutmegged from the halfway line again.

It's been public for a few days now, but pretty easy to miss - www.wrexhamafc.co.uk/sites/default/files/wrexham_supporters_trust/sgm_resolution.pdfSo the club is sold for a "nominal sum" (i.e. a quid), we transfer 100% shares for the promise of £2m investment. That's the offer which seems to have been put before us, given we were asked to vote on it. I'd imagine the final offer would include nice freebies like not being rebranded Wrexham Bluebirds.
